Is Smoking Immoral?

This is something that i have been wondering for a long time. Is smoking immoral? I mean i know and most of us do that it is "injurious to health", but again i repeat is it immoral? My friend inspired me to write this post, he is almost addicted to smoking and there are a couple of friends that i work with who smoke too. I never tried it, it was against my lofty principles, i mean to me one should not depend on external things to lift your mood or clear your head or whatever smoke does. So again i come back to the question, is smoking immoral?

My friends, they are not that bad, i mean they are great guys but they smoke. So is it right for me to label them bad just because they smoke? Smoking affects people around you and in that way it could be considered immoral but then people dont get a chance to smoke that freely now. They smoke with other smokers or other private places. So they are not harming anyone just themselves. They smoke because they like to or for whatever it does to them, so i dont think it is immoral.

The moral side to me does not come into play here, i mean people break knuckles which is bad for t hem but we dont hate them for that. Its just that smoking is associated with so many bad segments, i guess its not fair to the normal people.

Its certainly not advisable to smoke but all i say is that it is not right to shun people or judge people because they smoke, its not fair. We all have bad habits and we dont like to be judged by that. Its the same with smoking as long as the smoker does not involve people to passive smoke then its ok. Its just a bad habit, the guy or gal knows the harm and he has made a choice. So be it.

I wont judge smokers anymore, i wont dislike them outright,i wont say he is bad and that smoking is immoral and that is for another reason too , every person who starts to smoke have a story to back it up most of the time and sometimes its fun. :)
