Court marriages in India

Everyone has the right to get married to the person, whom, he or she wishes to. Marrying the person one loves is the best accomplishment of the bond shared between the loved ones. Sometimes, It is not only in the hands of the bride or the groom, whether they want to tie knots with each other, or not, but a major role is also played by the family members of the Indian bride and groom. It is very important, in case of Indian matrimonies, that the approval from both the families of the couple is taken, before the commencement of the marriage takes place. In fact there are very less people, who have got the courage to accept their love in front of the whole world and give it the name of marriage. In such cases, parents should not create hurdles in the achievement of the marital status for the couple, rather they should try and understand their children and provide their support to them, whenever required.

Though, it's right that parents have the right to intrude in the lives of their children, but they sometimes need to understand and mould their believes according to changing times and the increasing demands of the children. Marriage is a decision, on which can take a toll on the whole life of a human being, therefore, should be taken carefully and thoughtfully. The decision for sure, should be results of the guidance taken by the elders of the family, keeping in mind the pros and cons of the alliance. Providing support to the children, in their marriage, helps the Indian bride and groom in leading a smooth and a tension- free married life. Otherwise, the children always have somewhere in mind of not having the blessings of their parents for their marriage life.

In cases, where parents do not support the bride and groom for their matrimony and the couple is very firm and sure about their decision for marriage, then the only option left with the Indian bride and groom is to have court marriage. Court marriages in India, are mostly considered a very low profile marriages, they are mostly done in case of mass marriages or when the couples, are doing it against the will of their family members, taking support of the laws, certifying their right to get married to the person they wish to, after the age of eighteen. Though every Indian marriage has to get registered in the court, to obtain legal certification for their marriage, but marriages actually happening in the premises of the court are generally referred as court marriages in India.

There is a proper procedure, which the Indian bride and the groom have to follow to practise court marriage for their wedding. There are different acts for the marriage in India, which according to the type marriage are commenced by the court and the individuals. The two main acts for Indian marriages are Hindu Marriage Act 1955, and Special Marriage Act 1954. The couple has to register for their marriage, one month before the marriage, for which some documents are meant to be submitted, to prove their originality as the citizen of India Few of the documents to be submitted are:

 Signature of both the bride and groom are required on the application form for marriage

 A document as a date of birth certificate of both the bride and groom, needs to be submitted in the court, in which the age of both the Indian bride and groom should be 21, according to the special marriage act

 Two passport size photos

 Residential proofs of the bride and the groom

 In case of already married, the invitation card for the marriage, photos for the marriage, need to be proved in the court

Thus, these documents are needed to be submitted in the court to get the court marriage done and draw the certificate of marriage from the legal perspective and mark their togetherness forever.
