Most people don't understand everything that's involved in this problem. They'll say, "It's just a computer game. Let them have fun!" or, "make an account and join them!". It's really not that easy. I for one don't want to spend hours leveling up a warcraft character. I tried the game and it doesn't hold my interest. I don't have enough patience to kill 25 boars just to get my next long repetative mission. So after spending 3 hours downloading the game, subscribing, and making 2 characters and then about 2 hours killing boars and trying to find my way out of a building I told my boyfriend I hate the game and I quit. He understood but continued to play it - for hours, and hours and hours, day after day. I tried playing world of warcraft too and I also hated it. All the charcters I could be were so ugly. I much prefer to play Sims, There.com or Secondlife. But I would never spend as much time on it as my husband does. He practically dedicates his life to world of warcraft.

After work my boyfriend comes straight home and plays 'til bedtime. I'm glad he comes right home but I make dinner and IF he isn't involved in a group he'd 'fly to somewhere safe' and sit down at the table and eat with me or we'd watch TV together for a while. So I'm happy about that. But yeah. He devotes his life to this game. So although his body is at home with me, his mind isn't. I don't know which is worse?
And I mean, how healthy can it be to be sitting down constantly playing a game? Didn't somebody in Korea die from playing World of Warcraft for 3 days straight?

World of Warcraft is a fun game, and it is designed to make players want to keep playing, that's how Blizzard gets their money. I imagine your husband is in a guild and has a lot of "responsibility" to the other players. He probably has online friends who he enjoys hanging out with. There are a lot of reasons to play WoW - it's designed that way, and it's designed well. The problem isn't WoW though - that's just an escape. You need to find out what the real problem is, and deal with that. Once you solve the real problem, then WoW will either go away, or at least fade into the background like any other hobby.
