Who are "They" Anyway? Who are "They" Anyway? Who are "They" Anyway?

We may never know who "they" are but we do know "they" prevailed. When it comes to politics the game is the same everywhere. From the smallest of town meetings to the president of the United States, the game is the game. If anyone should come before the electorate who threatens the status quo, "they" immediately begin to do whatever is necessary to take that candidate down. If that candidate should prevail and win, "they" simply continue to undermine and prohibit the winner's ability to get anything of substance accomplished. This tactic leaves the candidate frustrated with the system and labels them ineffective and unqualified. Now the stage is set and ineffective and unqualified tags will be used against the candidate should they try to be reelected. And the beat goes on…
"They" have one mission. Lie, manipulate and destroy whatever and whoever "they" perceive as the root of all evil and or threat to their empire of power. So, who are "they"? "They" are anyone who believes "my way or the highway" is a religion. "They" are anyone who shutters when "they" see a candidate who has the character, integrity, principle and courage to take on the status quo and the "party line". Sounds like Sarah Palin to me.
This whole scenario played out right before our eyes on the national stage with Sarah Palin. Shame on "them". Shame on the women who expressed doubt that having children disqualifies you from high level anything. Shame on the reporters who spewed out gossip on national TV and reported it as fact. Shame on everyone with a soap box who repeated every negative comment with no knowledge of the fact, never mind not ever having met Sarah Palin.
"They" have caused any number of candidates like Sarah Palin to simply give up and get out. Fortunately, Sarah is above and beyond what "they" do. But now more than ever, this country needs good candidates at every level. The problem is that the pool of well intentioned, public minded, people willing to serve for all the right reasons is dwindling because the pool is stocked with sharks. I know from experience and I suspect you do too that if you ask the right questions while stepping on the wrong toes, "they" will get you. And "they" do!
When "they" are threatened "they" feel the need to suit up and begin the age old "search and destroy method of taking people down. If you have two or more of the following traits: character, integrity, a desire to represent people as you would like to be represented, are willing to challenge the status quo, and most importantly if "they" don't scare you, I encourage you to run for office.
It is time to turn the tables. To put our government from the local to the national level back in the hands of those who will disarm the sharks and make the waters safe again. Next time there is an election in your city or town watch closely how it unfolds. If you begin to read stories on hear rumors that speaks to the "qualifications" of one candidate over another that is usually a sure sign that "they" are suiting up. The fact is, and something every voter needs to remember, the only qualification for any elected official is having a majority of the votes at the end of the day. RUN SARAH RUN!
