Christian Gap Year Youth Work To Benefit Ones Future

Submitted by Chriss Tyrrell

It's just another sign of these changing times. Even high schools students who in generations past would have been consumed strictly with thoughts of themselves are now becoming more philosophical and philanthropic. So many young Christians getting ready to graduate are asking themselves the same question, "just what is it that I can do to leave a positive impact on the planet on which I live"?

Six months to a Year of Christian Gap Year Youth Work

Hence; ever more of these idealistic young Christians are taking what has come to be called a gap year, to venture out on a voyage of missionary work and self sacrifice. Six months to a year between high school and college to function as an arm of Christ, helping the needy and less fortunate in the US or some third world country.

This Is a Job Best Left Up To the Young

Hey! It just makes all too much sense. You see once they start in at college, it will be some 2-6 years of formal study, then off into a busy career after that. So if your child is closing in on eighteen years of age now, that means that he or she could be up to twenty four years of age before the real chance to do this type of Christian charity work presents itself again.

Now Is the Time fpr Christain Gap Year Youth Work

Think about it. Thats all you need, is your child with a full degree and the obligation of student loans to be paid off, living in poverty in some third world country helping poor people. In a scenario like that, it won't be long until they themselves will be classified amongst the poor and needy in need of a handout. So their early years really are the best time to get this type of business out of the way.

The Competetive Edge In Any Church Social Setting

Also the connections that they forge in these early years, they can cultivate further on in their life when they finish their schooling and begin to may down tracks into a successful professional career. For this type of charity work is a medal on their collar that will never fade and will always put them one step ahead of others socially in any church that they attend with their own families in their adult years.

Take Care of School Responsibilities Before They Leave

There are some things that do have to be taken into account however, as it pertains to the college your son or daughter will be attending once they return from their mission. You see, not all colleges and universities view gap years the same, so their policies on them can differ greatly. Hence; do make sure that your child takes care of all their ground work related to their schooling prior to taking off.

Understanding School Policies on Christian Gap Year youth Work

Make sure that all of their applications for student aid are in and also make sure that they fully understand all of the gap year policies of the school that they plan on attending when they return. One thing that they don't want to lose, is their freshman status and most particularly if they have been accepted on any type of scholarship. Do make sure that they have full assurances from their college of choice that there will be no changes in gap year policies in the time that they are gone.
