Churches going into the WorldSubmitted by galaxywd Sat, 5 Jul 2008
When we read our Bibles we find that going out into the world to recruit people to the salvation of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ is one of the things that the church is instructed to do. The Disciples of Christ did this by traveling around all the time witnessing and teaching about Christ. Conducting missions to other countries has long been a part of church activity that members volunteer to do. In the past it could be a grueling experience that was not for the faint of heart.
Today more churches than ever are forming and supporting mission trips to places like Haites, Sudan, India, and other countries where freedom of religion can be suppressed and that may not have ever had the opportunity to hear the teachings of Christ. These trips still may not be for the faint of heart, but they are probably a little easier than years and years ago. If you have ever felt a calling to go abroad and share your Love of the Lord and help others in need, then finding a church that sponsors mission trips can be one way you can achieve this goal. Many people who have gone on missions find that it can be one of the most fulfilling and gratifying experiences of their Christian life. Mission trips can vary in the length of time that you will be there and the things that are achieved depending on where you travel to. In countries like Sudan where there is not only the need for the teaching of Christ, but also a desperate need for food, water, clothing, medicines, and shelter for those who live there. Some churches will send someone to actually live there full time to oversee the digging of wells so that local residents can at last have clean drinking water. They also set up buildings where children may come to get fed at least once a day. They build small schools for education. Free medical attention is also a large part of what missionaries do. If you feel that you have been called by the Lord to be one of those special people that go out into the world to do his works, find a church or other organization that conducts mission trips. Be sure before you go that you know what you are getting into because it can be as tough and challenging as it is rewarding. There is nothing more fulfilling as a Christian than knowing that you have done your part in helping others that have no where else to get it. About the Author
