Finding a Contented Path with ChurchSubmitted by galaxywd Sat, 5 Jul 2008
There are untold numbers of people in the world today who are unhappy in their life because they can not seem to find a true purpose for living. They are the ones who wonder what it is all about and where they fit in with the overall scheme of things. Many people who can not find the answer to these questions end up finding themselves addicted to drugs, alcohol, pornography, and other vices trying to fill a void in there life with something even if it is bad.
For others of us who have found the path in our life that brings that satisfying contentment and assurance of why we are here and what our purpose is in life, it was so much more simple than we had realized. Whether you were brought up in a church of some kind or not as a child, religion alone will never work to bring you the peace you seek. What does bring it about is a change in your whole outlook on life and the daily way you live. Religion is something that you live on the outside, but spiritual change is what you experience on the inside. Sometimes people have been led to believe that you must always be good to have a personal relationship with God and the Lord Jesus Christ. Well, that is the ultimate goal, but everyone has to start somewhere. People can be afraid of attending church because they are under the impression that they will be scrutinized and subjected to all kinds of pious judgment of others for the way they have lived in the past. In some churches this can be true, but in many churches that have been formed today, it is more about having a place to go to worship where you can learn to grow in the spirit of God and be accepted for who you are now, who you want to become, not what you were. When you are involved in a church where there are others who have experienced the same types of problems in their life as you have, it creates a common ground to share your past experiences as well as the new ones that come along. There is nothing more fulfilling, gratifying, and comforting than to have friends who understand that life is not so easy. Church friends can help you along your spiritual road, they are there to pray with you, not judge you. If you are searching for a place to fit in and belong, try going to a few different churches to find one where you feel comfortable with the style of worship and where the people make you feel welcome and at home.
