Hindu religion is one of the oldest religions in the world. One can find many Gods and Goddesses in Hinduism. Apauruseya - one which is not originated because of individuals is what Hinduism is referred to as. Hindu gods are also called in this name. Hindu religion has several deities but all deities are different forms of the ultimate power. The supreme power is referred to as Brahman.
The Concept of God in Scriptures The qualities of God have been described clearly in religious texts of Hinduism. He should be aware of anything occurring in the universe and he is the ultimate power. He is the image of beauty, love and justice. He has created this universe, , which makes him the sole owner who should be blessing the world. According to Rigveda eleven Rudras, twelve Adityas, eight Vasus, Indra and Prajapathi are rulers of all living and non-living beings on Earth, the Space and the Heaven. The holy Scripture also mentions that irrespective of the number of gods in Hindu religion, the absolute power is one. Hindu religion explains 2 philosophies called Ishta Devaa and Adhikaara, as per which worshippers can choose any deity who can satisfy their spiritual needs. To get the answers to the spiritual questions one has, he can believe in any god. Main Deities As there are several Gods in Hindu religion, classifying them is not possible. But Hindus believe that Vishnu, Brahma and Shiva are extremely revered because they preserve, create and destroy the universe. Female deities who are different forms of Shakti also has an important place in Hinduism in addition to Gods. Lakshmi, Saraswati and Parvati are 3 important goddesses of Hindu religion. Durga and Kali are also considered to be avtars of Shakti. All these Gods and Goddesses have different forms and they are also being worshipped by people. Krishna, Rama, Ganesha and Hanuman are some of the favorites of many Hindus across the world. Devi is the other name for Goddess and Deva is the other name for God. Important Incarnations In Hinduism, significance is given to the 10 avtars of Lord Vishnu. Hindus believe that Lord Vishnu, to protect the world from evil spirits, takes birth in various forms in each Yuga. There are 10 avtars of Lord Vishnu. Vamana, Krishna, Parashurama, Matsya, Koorma, Varaha, Narasimha, Rama, Balarama and Khalki are his ten avtars. As per the beliefs of Hinduism, the present Yuga is Kaliyuga and Vishnu re-incarnates as Khalki, the 10th incarnation. Devotees also consider air, water, sun, earth and fire as Gods. These are known as the five elements. Hindu believers revere fauna and flora, considering them as gifts of God.
