How We Helped Plant a Church

A while back we were asked if we wanted to be a part of a new church plant in Everett Washington now called Refuge Church. We said yes to the call. It has been a wild ride and an exciting one. We had no idea what to expect. We were going to a great church called New Life Church, which is a four square church in Everett. They believe that one of there missions is to plant churches in the surrounding community. Washington state is under- churched and we saw the vision immediately. We also attend Celebrate Recovery at New Life and at NorthShore church in Everett. Being a part of this has given us a sense of service and helped us become whole through the power of the holy spirit and in the belief that our higher power is in Jesus Christ and his
death and resurection on the cross. He is our saviour so this aspect of recovery from hurts, habits and hangups was very important to us. Darin and Amanda Pearson were asked to pastor the new church that was to be planted in North Everett, Wa. and they were a huge part of the Celebrate Recovery
program we were involved in. Serving was so important to them and we had a huge family in this program. Many of the people we knew decided to help with the church plant and because they were our church family we prayed about it and went and was so important to them to serve also.

The planning was essential and it took months to formulate the beginning stages of the new church which is called Refuge now. It is also Downtown Everett Foursquare church. After they built teams based on a fractal system, they started looking for a place to hold service. Money was a consideration and there was a place called God Rock Cafe in North Everett that let us start out by holding services there. It was an awesome
launch! We have an operations team, Revolution Youth for kids and teens, Creation Kids for the little ones, missional groups, mens and womens bible studies and we hold two services on Sunday. Darin is filled with the spirit and we strive to be the hands and feet of Jesus and just want to love on the community of North Everett and Snohomish County. We can't wait to see what the Lord has in store for our new church! Worship is so beautiful
and everyone is kind of a Seattle Grunge. We come as we are and let God do the work in us while staying true to the word and learning about the history of the bible in a real way!
