The Best Economy is a Christ-Centered Economy

Submitted by proberts
Thu, 8 Nov 2007

A Christ-centered economy would the richest kind of economy. Practically speaking, Christ-followers must be extravagant spenders and givers, people who, when they see a need, will spend, give and do everything within their power to meet every possible need.
Is not dishonesty, deception, stealing, lawlessness and greed the source of all economic strife? Take these things away from our way of life and we will live and work and spend without hindrance.

If we follow Christ, He will free our hearts so we might give freely, without a thought to our personal wellbeing. The genius of this design is that living without a thought to our personal wellbeing is the most spiritually healthy lifestyle. Spiritual health paves the way to mental and physical health.

The genius of God's design for us in Christ is that our best life is actually death to self in Christ. If we follow Christ, we will prefer physical death over neglecting that which is good and true and right. This is the fullest possible life.

The freest life is to live as Christ commands, even if this leads to our physical demise (I say this to put things in perspective). The pinnacle of human existence is to spend and be spent and eventually die in our Lord’s service.

If we are Christ-followers, then our goal in life is to fade completely from the picture so that all eyes might focus on Christ. Yet, sometimes it is necessary to look inward at ourselves and investigate the true quality of our faith. Genuine obedience will begin for us westerners when we acknowledge our lowly spiritual conditions before God. Then, after we are drastically reduced, we will build on God's clean, spiritual Foundation, who is Christ. Then we will grow up and move outward at whatever pace He decides is best. When this life-race is over, we will find Christ alongside us still, just as He has been all along.
