Why Church is good for Your FamilySubmitted by galaxywd Sat, 5 Jul 2008
Anyone who has children these days can tell you how nerve wracking it can be to bring them up in the world the way it has become. Even though that through out history there have always been temptations for young people, it would seem that they are even more wide spread and dangerous than ever before. The question that so many parents are asking is how to protect their offspring from all the hazards of the world?
Of course, it has never been nor ever will be possible to protect our children from all things that are bad, but there are many ways that we can at least make the effort to steer them in the right direction. Sometimes kids will inevitably choose the wrong paths, but when they are raised in good ways they have a tendency to return to them as they grow older. Children who are paid close attention to by their parents have a much better chance at turning out well than those who are lacking in parental love and influence. Taking the time to spend in a family environment gives children a sense of belonging and security that can not be gotten any other way. Children need love and encouragement as well as correction and discipline in order to become well rounded and well adjusted adults. When most children are taken to church during their childhood, you might not think they are listening, but chances are they probably are. Church is a wonderful supplement to good parenting. We must face the fact that as parents we sometimes need all the help we can get to ensure the best upbringing for our kids. When kids are exposed to church teachings and those teachings are carried into the home as well, they come to see it as a way of life that makes sense in the end. Having your children involved in church activities such as camp or vacation Bible school might seem old fashioned and out of date, but it can be experiences that they learn from and are likely to carry with them all their life. They can make friends that are being raised and taught the moral values they are and this will help them to be better equipped to refrain from destructive activities that they can be exposed to at school and other places. Taking your family to church on Sundays might not be the magic cure for all family problems that come along, but it is one way that you can spend time together in a way that almost always has a positive effect for all of you. If you feel like your home has gotten out of control and you want to see what can make a difference, try finding a church that you and your family are comfortable going to for a few months and trust in God that it will make a difference.
