Should your country legalise escort servicesSubmitted by perfectboytoy Sun, 12 Jul 2009
Recent research in the U.S. has concluded that the current legislation for prostitution moves the prostitutes and pimps into the streets. As a result, streets are rife with street soliciting and residents bear the brunt of these policies. The main harmful aspect of this policy is that the girls are placing themselves in great danger on the streets. Prostitutes can be easy prey for rapists and serial killers etc. Specialists say street prostitutes are the prime targets of serial killers. Maybe we should take a look at the example of certain European cities such as Berlin for instance. Over there they have professional red light districts to isolate the activities and minimize criminality in residential areas. Plus, maybe the most significant thing, the prostitutes their selves are much secure than street prostitutes.
Street soliciting is well known for its problems with drug addiction and it is used to support the habits of women. This is mostly the result of being convicted at a young age for soliciting and finding employment can be impossible in the future. Sometimes though, its often the case that many start drugs when they are young and turn to prostitution to pay for their habit. Some crooks thrive because of the policy towards soliciting such as rapists or muggers because of the reluctance of the girls to report crimes. Prostitutes are much less likely to report any crimes because they could implicate their selves and they are easily taken advantage of. With legality of prostitution women would be more likely to report any crimes as they are their selves be acting within the law. In such a situation, there would be far fewer crooks granted with the opportunity to commit crime and far more being prosecuted. Plus, it would eliminate the illegitimate safe havens of the current unauthorized red light zones. European cities are a prime instance of this. Crime in a lot of European cities is scarce in comparison to the U.S. In the State of Nevada, soliciting is legal and after studying, sociologists concluded that it helped to substantially reduce crime. Therefore, this shows us that it makes no sense to criminalize an activity that does not cause harm to anyone. Certainly not when its poor people trying to support their selves, and, or their loved ones. Often it may be the only way to stop the loss of houses and, or other property and belongings. At the other end of the scale, you have women who live fairly comfortable lives but work as escorts because they like meeting the people. Some can live better lives on the money they make doing so. When you bear all these facts in mind, it makes no sense to me why it is outlawed. Most people that use prostitutes are friendly, law abiding people with the exception of a small minority. A lot of them struggle to get a relationship or they've had bad luck in a past relationship. So then, all in all. The point that I am trying to make is that if the police and government concentrated on more dangerous crimes instead of oppressing the brothel industry, it would be much cleaner, safer and pretty much crime free. If only they would legalese it and set out some workable guidelines
