Entertaining Your Guests on Your Wedding Banquet

Submitted by timospencer

For most people, this could be the biggest party they set up in their young lives. Families and friends travel from all parts of the country and the globe to be witnesses in your union. Besides the great meal and the flowing drinks, guests are always entitled to some form of entertainment while the events flow.

The automatic reaction is to list down the affordable singers, bands or musicians in your network. Everyone has a special aunt or uncle and far off relative that are talented in some way or form. But there is always something you can cook up to start the ball rolling.

On the occasion that you set up cocktails prior to while preparing the banquet area, you can opt to leave a framed canvas or poster for guests to sign. You can leave colorful pens for all the gleeful messages.

Having Polaroid cameras at the area too give the guests something to do and nowadays this idea has risen to actual photo booths which are really quite fun to do. Another option would be distribute disposable cameras per table and have your guests take a whack at taking personal pictures. You will be amazed at what actually develops. Another variant would be to actually have a caricaturist on site to create little sketched of guests or couples.

In Europe, there is a rising incidence of using magicians for weddings. They can stroll up into guests during cocktails or do close-up tricks for tables to break the ice.

There are also interactive ideas such as leaving paper and pens in basket per table for writing their best wishes for you. Have them collected and then surprise them have a raffle draw. You can have the emcee read out each note to shame them before giving out their token prize.

You can also have a "tribute to the best". Have token prizes at hand and have the MC ask the audience who has been married the longest. Then go to who has been married the shortest (besides the bride and groom), and proceed to other trivial delights like number of children etc .etc. and then you can round them up with asking which couple has the biggest age gap for laughs. To make it spicier you can also ask a special couple, preferably the married ones to make a special kiss that the bride and groom would have to imitate. If they are too shy then you will have to ask the bride and groom for a torrid kiss for them to follow. Believe me that pressuring them will be more than entertaining.

Chocolate fountains have been a rave the past few years and I think it will be a mainstay at these grand events. It goes with everything from crackers, to cookies, to fruits and other goodies. Children love it and so do adults at the same time it makes a great highlight for the buffet table.

Dance instructors also should be considered since the can make the party last till the wee hours of the morning. It's not only a chance for the young people to learn how to really dance but it also gives opportunity for the elder generation to boogie and feel the nostalgia all over again.

One of newest reworked ideas would be to actually have a great coffee bar. Coffee shops are still fast growing worldwide and having a nifty set-up at your reception will give many others a good option besides just getting sloshed from the open bar.

Take some time out to really think about what your friends and family would enjoy and try to always balance the fun stuff with the traditional ceremonies to keep it a happy memory for everybody. Cheers!
