Fall Wedding Invitations - Let a Fall Wedding Inspire your Invitations

Submitted by weddingdirectory

The autumn season gives so much inspiration in terms of color & motifs, so when it comes to your fall wedding invitations you needn't look far for inspiration. No matter what the style of your wedding - formal, traditional or casual, fall can give you everything you need to create beautiful invitations.
Your first decision will be on colors. Whilst you will ultimately be choosing colors for every element of your wedding, it is important to consider how color combinations will work with elements such as invitations & your wedding cake.

Fall is rich in color throughout the season. Early on as the leaves begin to die back you will see once rich green leaves turn to shades of olive & khaki, then they will turn through a spectrum of yellows, reds, oranges & gold's, before finally turning to burnt orange, rust red & brown in late fall. Many combinations of these colors will work well & many people will add cream in as a base color, particularly with the papers used in wedding stationery.

It could be a good idea to take your color choices from the time of season you will be getting married in. For instance, an early fall wedding could see shades of olive green, pale gold & tan brown, whilst a wedding in late fall would use shades of deep gold, brunt orange, chocolate brown & rust red.
Fall is also good for design motifs which could be used throughout your wedding stationery & other elements such as your wedding favors & cake. Here are a few to consider for your invitations:

- Leaves
- Bare branches
- Autumn berries
- Skeletal leaves
- Falling leaves
- Bare trees
- Fall nuts such as horse chestnuts/konkers

Using real elements in your invitations instead of or alongside printed graphics is another popular feature of wedding invitations. Adding some dried leaves or skeletal leaves to your invitations is a nice finishing touch. You can also purchase papers with seeds embedded in them & invitations printed on papers embedded with autumnal seeds would make your stationery very unique.

Aside from the colors of the papers & cards used in your invitations you should also consider the font color. Metallic gold text on a chocolate brown background is very striking & metallics are a big trend for weddings this year. For paler font colors you should use cream or ivory papers to print on so they stand out well enough to be clearly read, you could also add in a second color for text such as your names & the wedding date.

Your wedding invitations are the first real impression your guests will get of how your wedding will look & feel it is important therefore to keep a recurring theme running throughout every element of your day & one which will unify your wedding scheme. For instance, if you use a leave motif on your invitations then you should continue this on your other wedding stationery, your wedding favors & your wedding cake.
