Simple Ways to Plan a Wedding with a Theme

Submitted by Thomas Choo

Organizing a wedding with a theme could be a fun way to include a particular interest the couple shares into the wedding.

Themes are a neat way for the couple to express themselves and share bits of their personalities with the guests. The theme of the marriage can be merged into virtually each facet of the wedding. From the couple's clothes, to the decorations, music, favors and even the vows, the couple can make sure that each part of the wedding reflects their selected theme.

Below are some examples of marriage themes and how they can be incorporated tastefully into your wedding rites or reception.

A medieval theme is a popular choice for couples who long for the love and customs of earlier times. The couple could select their clothes to reflect the theme by wearing outfits denoting the selected period of time. They can do this by either renting costumes or looking widely for clothes that suits their wants. This theme may also be carried over into the food and entertainment selections.

A couple may decide to have a multi-course meal that includes conventional medieval fare. They could also wish to provide entertainment like musicians to perform after every course. Using medieval language in the rite and vows is an alternate way to include a medieval theme.

Another popular theme among couples is a fairy tale wedding. Because plenty of young girls are first exposed to the idea of a wedding in childhood fairy tales, it is comprehensible that many brides dream about a fairy tale wedding. This effortless theme interprets easily to wedding preparations and can be absorbed into the wedding in a number of ways.

The couple's clothes are examples of the best means of incorporating a fairy tale theme. A form fitting bodice with a tulle skirt is very suggestive of fairy tale weddings. This dress style is generally available in many bridal shops. In several cases it is even known as a "Cinderella Gown". Simply let the bridal shop attendants know that you are organizing a fairy tale themed wedding and they will produce a multitude of dresses for you to try on, that fits the theme. The groom could also choose clothes that pay homage to Prince Charming, like a white tuxedo with tails.

The couple might also decide to perform their first dance together as husband and wife to a traditional ballroom medley. This elegant dance can be truly reminiscent of a fairy tale wedding.

Another common wedding theme is an under the sea theme. A couple selecting this theme may need to consider holding their ceremony and reception on a beach. As usual, the clothes can be merged into the theme. If the marriage is held on a beach, the bride may want to present herself in a simple white dress and may opt to be married without shoes. The decoration probabilities are limitless with this theme.

One very preferred and suitable centerpiece idea is to fill glass bowls with sand and seashells. This centerpiece is a good way to include the theme into the decorations. The couple could also cover the tables in a blue material that is equivalent to the color of the sea and layer fishing nets over the table. An easy favor idea is to present each guest with a collection of seashell-shaped soaps.

It is not necessary to have a themed wedding, but selecting one can be a brilliant way to link the various parts of the wedding together. Delicate hints at your theme are nice touches but it is also easy to go over the top with a theme and the results are oftentimes tacky.
