But the fact of being too precious it was not an affordable item for the common people and only the kings and the nobles were the ones who used them.

But in the present day context the scenario has changed a lot and the fact is that the idea of the ring also changed from a symbol of possession and strength to a symbol of love and the union of two souls. Besides that in the present day context it has been seen that these days several other precious metals are replacing gold very often as the metal for the ring. Such metals like platinum, titanium, white gold are much popular these days as the choice of the metal for the wedding ring.
