Wedding Make-up Trial Tips

Submitted by hitwise

Do I really need to hire a professional?

Wedding day make-up is a delicate balance between looking beautiful on the day, fabulous in photographs and lasting the duration. A make-up artist should be experienced in balancing these concerns and know all the tricks of the trade that will give you perfect results.

While it’s not essential to hire professional hair and make-up artists, it is advisable. They have experience in hair and make-up for photographs and big events and they will make sure you look your best.

So how do I choose a make-up artist?

When you contact make-up artists you should find out what qualifications they have. Ask to view their work portfolios and find out their experience. Take time to chat and ask questions. You need to feel comfortable with their approach since they will be playing an important part in one of the most memorable days of your life.

At your trial:

* It will help if you can let the make-up artist know exactly what you have in mind. Take along clippings from magazines or photos that inspire you.

* Bring along a friend or relative who can give you an honest opinion and help you gather ideas about what style you want.

* Mention if you have any allergies or skin problems.

* Have your trial during the day for a daytime wedding and at night for an evening wedding.

* Avoid make-up and hairstyle trends - your photos are going to last longer than the current fashion statement.

* Show the make-up artist a picture of your gown to give her a starting point for designing the perfect look.

* Also bring along pictures and swatches of the colour scheme for the wedding, including the bridesmaid’s dresses and the flowers in your bouquet.
