5 Simple Steps To Coaching Soccer Drills

Submitted by Andre Botelho

Before you get on with coaching soccer drills to kids, let me share with you some teaching ideas that are sure to help you, whether you agree or not. In your soccer practice, identify one goal that is common to both the team and the coach for example; to have a lot of fun while playing the game.

At this point, it's important to stay alert or else you'll get distracted by other things. I therefore recommend that you decide on more specific objectives for yourself and your soccer team. Some examples are; focus on player's individual soccer skills, promote the importance of their physical fitness, and help them grow into mature, professional, and sporting soccer players.

It is your duty to set reasonably high standards for players in relation to sportsmanship. Support them in developing a sporting attitude, a feeling of team spirit, and an attitude of fair play. There are several objectives important in teaching soccer that can be incorporated in your list along with these.

The theory of winning is one concept that I'd like to stress upon when it comes to coaching youth soccer. Infuse an open concept of winning in your player's minds when you are coaching them. Make them understand that so long as their play is up to the mark, they are the winners, irrespective of the final outcome.

This will take away the pressure off the kids and they'll focus more on playing their best game rather than just winning it.

It's important that your instructions during coaching soccer drills are to the point and exact for players to fetch expected results. It's imperative that your kids are aware of the dos and don'ts that are critical to the game of soccer before you go any further with their training. The disparity between coaching and teaching is obvious in the fact that coaching deals with the bunch of players who already know the game to some extent.

In coaching drills, it is great idea to first demonstrate to the kids about 5 to 6 times a specific drill and then let it di it themselves. It is due to the fact that kids grasp visualizations more effectively than simple instructions. If you endeavor to explain in instructions, they will not understand it. Relatively, they imitate perfectly.

Hence, make it an imperative exercise to give a demonstration at every possible opportunity.

In the end, but still important is to keep the kids involved in several activities. This becomes even more important when the weather is windy, wet, or cold. You must understand that kids are just thrilled at the prospect of playing in the rain. So, instead of revoking the session, it makes more sense to find alternative ways to let them have fun.

Just be sure that the kids have additional layer of clothing and proper shoes in situations like these.

Now, it is time to add these tips to your training program and make the most of them. You'll be amazed to see the results.
