Coaching Your Child's Soccer Team

Submitted by midevilco
Tue, 12 Jun 2007

Many parents of young soccer players would like to coach their child’s soccer team but end up not doing so .It usually comes down to one of two reasons: Either parent’s feel they don’t know enough about soccer to coach, or they don’t have the time.

A problem arises because youth soccer leagues depend on volunteer parents to function, and they are often hard to find. If coaching didn’t require so much time and planning or if a simple program could make it easier for parents to learn about the game, many parents might reconsider the decisions not to coach.

If you are a soccer parent, what better activity could there be than coaching your child’s soccer team? You can spend time with your child while giving back to soccer league and community. Hopefully inspire others to get involved too. Leagues desperately need coaches, and there are places you can go to get soccer coaching help, especially the Internet. There is tons of information out there about coaching soccer, but one soccer coaching handbook in particular will make coaching a youth soccer team a complete breeze.

Soccer practice is about using your time effectively to teach concepts such as dribbling, passing, and trapping to your team and you do this with drills that are designed to be fun and informative for players. This book does all the work for you by giving you drills that will keep players active and engaged in all of the exercises. They will learn and have fun and you will look like a great coach!

Since many parents don’t know what to teach or how to teach it, I have taken the time to design 20 different practices that will improve players understanding and skills. I have provided coaching points to emphasis to players that are very general and easy to understand, even for volunteer parents with little soccer knowledge. Above all else, the drills are fun for players and they allow them to learn to play the game by doing.

If you are a parent with a young son or daughter that plays soccer, please reconsidering coaching. Whatever is holding you back from volunteering, don’t let it do so any longer because there are great soccer coaching resources that can help you do the job.

You can get a free sample of Soccer Season Outsourced that contains numerous free soccer drills now.
