England Bids 2018 World Cup:Origins Of world Cup

The history of football goes as far back as to the dark ages, and seems the earliest recorded football information is of the chinese back in about 3 BC. It also appears football was used as a millitary training tool. The aim was for the competitor to kick the ball into the goal which comprised of 10 metre height poles with a net of 30-40 cm width. By 50AD, The sport aimed to symbolise a harmony of the football and the goal hence the two were collectively known as Yin and Yang

The Greeks also appear to have contributed alot towards the evolution of football sport.
It appears they had a different purpose as compared to chinese. Their football was used more for entertaiment for competitors who played in a team. They introduced boundaries and markings for the team players. They seem to have invented soccer.

About this same period of dark ages, Japanese seemed also to play football. They however appear to be more focused not on kicking the ball but passing it around by hand. They too appeared to play as teams.

Middle Ages

When Romans moved to Western Europe, they seemed to have introduced football.
It appears the first recorded football in England was a boisterous street activity especially in streets of London. It was not very popular though.

Industrial Revolution

People were working long hours and found work boring. The workers had to work for 6 days with a saturday afternoon off. Sunday was a holy day of rest. To vent off their boredoom and frustration, workers made use of their saturday afternoon by joining the boisterous street activity of football.
By 1913,Football had completely changed in England to an organised popular activity with proffesional recognization.

Evolution Of Football In England And Europe

In 1863, football branched off from Ruggby Association and formed first Football Association. This paved way to football being recognised as popular sport and by 1872 first official match between England and Scotland was played hosted by scotish , but ended in a draw. The next match was hosted in England and England won. By 1873, Scotish formed their own football association.

FIFA IS BORN

The rest of Europe had concern about the regulation of the upcoming football associations. This concern led to creation of a body that could Govern, unite and regulate all football Associations in Europe so as to create uniformity in the sport. In 1904 FIFA (Federation Internationale de Football Association) was formed in France (Paris).

Membership To FIFA

England joined fellow European countries in 1905.
The first non European country to join FIFA was South Africa in 1909. Other parts of the word started joining like by 1913, USA and Cananda joined FIFA.
The core value of FIFA is Unity,Authenicity,Performance and Integrity.

World Cup Is Born

The vision FIFA had to unite the rest of Europe was radically changed by the interest of the rest of the world in football. This led to the decision to have it as a body that regulates and Governs how fooftball is played world wide. The testing moment came when a request to Olympic to be allowed a world tournement was refused in 1928. This led to the birth of an indepenent World football event which we now know as world Cup in 1930

England's Bid For 2018 World Cup

As FIFA is the Governing/Regulatory body of all Football Associations, it decides who to award the priviledge of hosting World Cup.
England has put forward its bid to host 2018 World Cup.There seems alot in favour of winning the bid. If England won the bid to Host olympic, this seems a credit in its favour.
It would however be interesting to see who at the end of the day wins this honour of hosting World Cup 2018.
