Bass Fish

Submitted by urlreader

The bass fish is the name of a number of different fish species that are considered game fish and are very popular as far as catching them goes. In fact, bass fish can be of either the marine or freshwater species. they are generally natives of North America and it's adjacent waters. They also are found in Central and Northern South America. There we find the powerful and colorful Peacock Bass.
Each different kind of bass fish is known to belong to the larger order known as Perciformes, which are fish that are perch-like. For those who are curious about why a fish should be called a bass, the answer is that it is derived from the middle-English term "bars" that allude to a perch.
As mentioned before, there are a number of different species of the bass fish, though the more popular and well-known species are the temperate bass. The black bass are a less well-known bass species that includes the Australian bass, the black sea bass, giant sea bass, Chilean sea bass, European sea bass, largemouth bass, smallmouth bass, and the striped bass as well as the spotted bass.
The temperate bass includes the striped bass as well as the white bass, and they are part of the family of fish known as the Moroidae. The black bass also includes the largemouth bass, smallmouth bass, the spotted bass, and the Guadeloupe bass, which are all part of the family of fish known as Centrachidae.
The popular striped bass is also Maryland's state fish and the marine fish of New York. This species of bass live along North America's Atlantic coastline and are anadromous fish that go from fresh to saltwater, though spawning occurs only in freshwater.
The white bass is mainly a freshwater bass that is also Oklahoma's state fish, though they are not related to black bass and are generally found in most lakes spread all across the United States. They resemble the white perch but they are much larger.
Among the black bass species, the largemouth bass is part of the sunfish family and is also known as the Oswego bass, the green trout, the bigmouth, lineside bass and the bucket mouth bass.
Another type of black bass is the one known as the smallmouth bass, which is a part of freshwater fish that are part of the sunfish variant. This fish a game fish that most fishers would love to catch and is found in North America's temperate zones, including cool-water rivers as well as lakes in Canada and United States. In fact, the smallmouth bass originates from both the Mississippi River basin and the Saint Lawrence River-Great Lakes system.
Another type of black bass is the spotted bass which is also a freshwater fish species belonging to the sunfish family. It is originally from both the Mississippi River basin and the Gulf coast that stretches from Texas to Florida. The other type of black bass species that is well known is the Guadalupe bass, which is found on Texas's Edwards Plateau. The Guadalupe is also a game fish that is a target of most serious anglers in that region.
