I can't overemphasize the importance of your drive in the game of golf. If you hit a nice drive you It'll do away of the many of your problems, like the necessity of chipping and those long puts. It's so important to get those long drives. But long drives mean nothing if the ball ends up in the woods or in the water hazard. Here are some golf tips to help you with your driving.

First of all, get a proper grip on the golf club. Don't grip it too tightly. You'll be uncomfortable and won't be able to get off an accurate shot. You'll probably wind up with blisters too. You also don't want to grip the club too loosely either. How embarrassing it is to see your club flying along with the ball while other golfers are watching. It's happened to me when I was first learning. Not fun.

What you're looking for is a proper grip. Many golfers don't pay enough attention to their less dominant hand. The placement of both hands is important. Don't position the club too high in your palm but don't go too low either. Take the middle road when it comes to hand positioning. Use a diagonal position when you grip the golf club.

Don't allow your less dominant hand to grip the club too loosely. This will hurt your drive. Just be loose and relaxed but not so loose you loose control of the club. To get a proper angle, you may want to have a small gap between your first and second fingers. You'll get more power and a longer, more accurate drive.

Link your hands together. Stick your thumb out on your less dominant hand and cover it with the palm of your other hand. This will give you a secure grip and help your shot. Your dominant hand will support your other hand and vice versa.

Proper alignment is very important. Have your club's face pointing in the direction you'd like your ball to go. Then align your feet with your club. Stay parallel with the face of your golf club and point your hands and shoulders in the same direction.

Next, put your feet together and keep them pointed at the ball. Then move your left foot outward a little bit. Do the same with your right foot. Repeat these steps until you are comfortable with your stance. Just remember, your feet should be no more than shoulder width apart.

And now we finally come to the swing. This is something you really need to practice. You need to stay relaxed. This is important. To get the proper rhythm you can swing the club back and forth a bit before your swing. Never give up accuracy just to get more power. Try to maintain a good balance between the two.

To get more distance out of your shot, make sure your upper body is coiling properly. Your feet are your base. Keep this base as solid as possible. If right handed, your left knee has to turn past the ball as you coil your upper body. To achieve the best swing, your arms must be extended to their full length.

Also, you can tee your ball higher to get more distance. This will help to reduce friction from backspin and allow you to get a better angle by hitting the ball at a lower place.

Driving is not easy and something you'll master in one afternoon. Just keep a close eye on your stance, grip and swing and you'll be well on your way to developing a better drive.

--
Brad Bahr is the author of many articles about his favorite hobbies.
Spain's Balearic Islands are well known for their quality golf courses - Majorca and Menorca, the largest of the Balearics, offer 14 golf courses to enthusiasts. They are very well designed courses that can be as enticing to novice golfers as they are challenging to veterans. Thirteen of the courses are located on Majorca, and plans are afoot to let holiday golfers know what they are missing if they overlook golf in the Balearics.

With its world famous beaches, cultural offerings and sporting opportunities, Majorca is an ideal travel destination. The island is nearly 80 kilometers long and boasts over 500 kilometers of coastline. Much of that coastline features beaches ranging from pristine white sand stretches to tiny out of the way coves and inlets. The surrounding waters are a crystal clear invitation to swimmers, wind surfers, scuba divers, fishermen, sailors and surfers.

The capital of Majorca is Palma de Majorca. This is really the centre of Majorcan culture. Tourists are often stunned by the beauty of the Cathedral of Palma. It is an almost overwhelming gothic structure overlooking the bay. It is noted for its enormous rose window and wrought iron works by Catalan master Antonio Gaudi. At night, the cathedral radiates green lighting that could almost be mistaken for Frank Baum's Emerald City in The Wizard of Oz.

Throughout the year, the city offers festivals, concerts, literary events and exhibitions that attract artists and fans from around the world. Tourists can find works by Picasso, Gauguin and Kiefer in museums like L'Almudaina and Es Baluard.

Inland, the Sierra de Tramuntana mountain range reaches heights of 14,000 feet. Tourists on their Majorca holidays will delight in discovering numerous small towns within the peaks and valleys of the mountains. Eventually, the mountains sweep down to the sea in dramatic fashion. Equally delightful, holiday travelers will also find a wide variety of Balearic cuisine, much of which is Mediterranean inspired.

Menorca is much smaller than its sister to the south. Often referred to as 'the island of pleasant breezes' Menorca has remained much more rural than Majorca. Despite its much smaller size, Menorca has almost as many inviting beaches along its coastline as Majorca and Ibiza combined. The white sand beaches and crystal clear waters are hard to resist. Swimming, diving, fishing, scuba diving, sailing and surfing are as popular on Menorca as they are on Majorca. Sailing, in particular, draws many enthusiasts because of the stunning harbours and inlets that dot the coastline.

Golf is also extremely popular on the island. Although Menorca has just one course at the present time, it is situated within sight of the stunning Son Parc beach on the north coast. Both novices and expert golfers enjoy the challenges that the well designed course offers.

As in the rest of the Balearic islands, Mediterranean cuisine abounds. Known for its sumptuous seafood varieties, a staple of Menorcan cuisine is caldereta de llgosta, a delicious lobster stew that all visitors are encouraged to try at least once before they leave the island. But if lobster is not your choice, there are sardines, mullet, squid, prawns, grouper, tuna and sole to choose from as well. Combine these with the island produced varieties of olives, cheeses and abundant fresh vegetables, and it is hard to imagine a disgruntled diner.

So whether you come for the water sports, the golf, or the sheer beauty of the islands, you will have chosen well if your holiday is spent in the Balearics. In particular, Majorca and Menorca have all the components of a wonderful holiday. It is little wonder that so many first time visitors soon become return visitors, and not just for the golf.

--
Accommodation and and reviews for hotels in Majorca can be seen by clicking through to yourmajorca.net/holidays

Flight times from European Airports to Palma and cheap Majorca flight deals are available at the Majorca travel resource.

Source: http://www.articletrader.com

The tourist board in Spain announced recently what millions of golfers already know - the Balearic Islands are a superb place to golf. Now golf holidays in Menorca are going to be promoted throughout Europe and the UK.

180,000 euros of the Balearics advertising budget has been set aside to market Balearic Island golf holidays. The move is in response to reports that indicate over 112,000 tourists visited the Balearic Islands last year specifically to play golf. Golf holidays in the Balearic Islands are on the increase.

This is no surprise to locals, or to the many tourists who have golfed the Balearic Islands in recent years. Even the small island of Menorca stands to reap financial benefits from the new push for golf holidays. It may only be home to one golf course, but it's well worth the time for golfers to include it in their travel itineraries.

Menorca's lone course, the Golf Son Parc, is located just off of Son Parc Beach. The beach has long been one of Menorca's favourite tourist attractions, with its pristine white sand and aqua-marine waters. Players will enjoy warm ocean breezes as they make their rounds of the championship course's 18 holes.

Golf not withstanding, the island of Menorca is a virtual treasure-trove of ecological gems. Tourism is a staple of Menorca's economy. Overall visitor numbers have increased dramatically since the 1960s. Despite this, the island has remained relatively unspoiled. It is home to one of the world's most unique protected wet zones.

The wet zone, located in the northern part of the island, is home to a number of indigenous species of birds and wildlife. It also boasts plant life that cannot be found anywhere else.

Menorca's golf course lies on the outskirts of this majestic eco-preserve. Players have been known to encounter wildlife from the preserve on the greens. This includes a famed peacock flock that has taken up residence near the third green.

Visitors who come for a golf holiday should stay long enough to take in Menorca's other famous sights. The island is also known for its rich culture and history. A Menorca visit should include a trip to some of its great ruins. Ancient monoliths, centuries-old stone fortresses, castles, towers and churches remind tourists of some of Menorca's earliest influences.

Of course, a Menorca weather forecast and her Mediterranean food has always been a tourist draw. Visitors will find good food at most any restaurant on Menorca. The island is known for traditional Spanish-influenced dishes, as well as cuisine unique to the Balearics.

Those who enjoy water sports in addition to golf can enjoy some of the world's best. Menorca's most popular include swimming, sailing, scuba diving and snorkeling. Boat tours are available on many of Menorca's beaches.

Most of the island's resorts and clubs are concentrated on the southern part of the island. However, quality accommodation can also be found on the northern part of the island. Golfers needn't worry about being too far from the greens. Many cater to those who come specifically for a golf holiday.

Promotion of golf holidays in the Balearic Islands will undoubtedly spark new partnerships between Menorca's course and local businesses. Golf-and-stay packages and special rates for UK tourists will continue to crop up as the campaign progresses. Other popular deals include special golf rates that can be found only on the web. No matter what, Menorca stands to be a big player on the Balearic Island golf scene for next year.

--
Golf holidays with accommodation and Menorca flights are offered at yourmenorca.net

The Minorca travel and holidays resource also has details for other Minorca holidays

Source: http://www.articletrader.com

There's a new golf course in Andorra, nestled high in the mountains. Grandvalira Golf Soldeu is situated in Pla d' Espiolets. Reachable by an eight-passenger cable car, it is Europe's highest elevated golf course at 2,590 metres (2,850 yards) high. The nine-hole course is surrounded by the natural beauty of the mountains, creating a unique setting.

The Pyrenees Mountains make a beautiful backdrop for this golf course. The scenic area has flowing waterfalls, interesting semicircle cliffs, wooded areas, great elevation, metallic ores, stratified rock, wildlife, mineral springs and hot springs. Though it makes a great place for a ski resort, it is also a peaceful place to be when the sun is shining and a warm breeze is in the air. Now holidaymakers can experience a resort setting that focuses on golf rather than skiing.

The Planning of Grandvalira Golf Soldeu

Planning the location of the new golf course wasn't easy. It took four years and 3 million euros to plan. The idea was to carefully embed the golf course in the natural environment of the Pyrenees Mountains without disturbing its surroundings. British expert Jeremy Pern led the project. He is famous for his work in designing golf courses.

Building the highest elevated golf course became a labour of love. It is a unique experience for golfers, since it is the only golf course that requires a ride in a cable car to access it. Aside from planning how to get tourists to and from the golf course, a lot of time was devoted to the project. Other time consuming details included construction, greens, planting trees, sodding grass, figuring out how to keep the grass lush, shaping the course and figuring out how to carefully weave the holes among the mountains without disrupting the balance of nature.

Boosting Tourism in Andorra

Andorra is mainly dependent on tourism for its economy to survive. The area brings in more than 9 million visitors per year, mainly from its ski resorts, but there is more to Andorra than the snow-capped mountains. Did you know that Andorra also offers things to do in the summer months? Aside from skiing and snowboarding, holidaymakers enjoy the hiking trails, mountain biking, helicopter rides, para-gliding, trout fishing, bird watching and horseback riding to name a few. The ski Andorra industry isn't the only tourist attraction in town.

The newest attraction in Andorra, however, is golf. The high-elevation golf course recently opened in this small nation that sits between France and Spain. It gives holidaymakers another reason to visit Andorra in the warmer months and perhaps even in the winter months when the mountains aren't snow covered, as in recent years.

Finding ways to bring holidaymakers to Andorra in the summer months is one way to build tourism, and golf may very well be the answer. According to the International Association of Golf Tour Operators, golf tourism is worth $17 billion globally. The U.S. is the current leader in the industry, but the UK also cashes in on golf tourism.

Golfers on holiday spend money, not only on the golf course, but also in the surrounding areas, at local attractions, at restaurants, at hotels, on transportation and on shopping. Package deals often include entrance to the golf course, airfare and hotel accommodations.

The addition of the highest elevated golf course promises to bring added tourism to Andorra. Grandvalira Golf Soldeu is expected to host renowned golf tournaments throughout the season. It is also offering lessons, rental equipment, a driving range, a practice area and a clubhouse designed for social gatherings.

Golf tourism is expected to bring in extra revenue for Andorra with the opening of Grandvalira Golf Soldeu. While some golfers travel exclusively for specific golf courses or tournaments, others plan their holidays around such events, thus spending more money and staying for an extended period of time. Bringing a high elevation golf course to Andorra is a smart way to maximize the use of the land while attracting tourists on a year-round basis - smart thinking in today's economy.

--
An Andorra travel guide is available at yourandorra.com and offers ski holidays with travel companies like Thomson ski plus from closeby Barcelona reviews for Barcelona hotels

For those of thinking of moving to Andorra there is real estate and Andorra property

Source: http://www.articletrader.com

With hundreds of quality golf courses to choose from in Europe, Cyprus is one of the top favourites for golfers.

The Mediterranean island has the advantage of being one of the few places in the world that offer golfing as a year round sport. In other areas of the world, tourism often slows during the colder winter months. Due to the location and year round mild climate of Cyprus, the island is becoming one of the best places in the world for year round golfing and other tourist activity.

Golf courses, clubs and resorts on Cyprus range in difficulty from novice to professional level. The Cyprus Golf Federation (CGF) is golf's official ruling body on the island. Five of the major resorts on Cyprus offer first class 18 hole golf courses. They offer special training areas for beginners, some in the form of a golf academy. Aphrodite Hills Golf Club and Korineum Golf and Country Club both offer three-hole academy courses to accommodate beginner golfers.

Aphrodite Hills Resort

The Aphrodite Hills Golf Course is named after the area it overlooks: the birthplace of the Goddess Aphrodite. Located near Paphos, where it overlooks the Mediterranean, the Aphrodite Hills Golf Course was designed by Cabell Robinson and built in 2002. This 578 acre golf course encompasses the resort, offering great views of the hotel and village centre. A dramatic ravine between two of the course's plateaus offers a unique golfing opportunity. Surrounding the golf course is a protected forest.

Korineum Golf and Country Club

The Korineum Golf and Country Club is a private club. It was the first 18 hole golf course built on the northern part of Cyprus. The course offers great views of the Mediterranean and the Five Finger Mountain Range. Located near Esentepe, the course consists of 18 holes, a driving range, Korineum Golf Academy and a shop where golfers may purchase or rent equipment. The Club House houses a fitness centre, spa, massage parlour, hairdresser and sauna, as well as executive meeting rooms, conference rooms, restaurants and bars.

Secret Valley Golf Course

Considered one of the most prestigious golf courses on Cyprus, the Secret Valley Golf Course is situated about 11 miles east of Paphos and offers an excellent golfing experience for novice to expert golfers. The Club House offers facilities such as a shop where golfers may buy or rent equipment, a bar, a restaurant serving delicious food and a locker room. The verandas of the resort's primary restaurant overlook the golf course and provide amazing scenic opportunities. Guest villas and apartments were built to accommodate the many visiting golfers it receives each year.

Tsada Golf Course

At 500 meters above sea level, the Tsada Golf Course is an incredibly beautiful, scenic course. Completed in 1994, the Tsada Golf Course was the first full grassed 18-hole golf course built on Cyprus. The gently sloping fairways are lined with fruit trees and grape vines. Nearby Coral Bay offers golfers the opportunity to relax and enjoy one of Cyprus' best and most popular beaches. As with most other golf clubs, Tsada offers academy training. What sets Tsada Golf Course's training apart from others is the fact that training is provided by a PGA professional.

Vikla Golf and Country Club

Designed by Robin Houry and built in 1992, the Vikla Golf and Country Club is open to the public and one of the most relaxed golf clubs on the island. For around 40 Euros you can golf all day. Club rental, golf balls, tees and water are included in the price. The Club House offers a wide variety of activities for golfers and non-golfers alike. Non-golfers can enjoy the swimming pool and other amenities while their golf loving counterparts enjoy a day filled with golfing enjoyment.

There's a good choice for those who are considering a golf holiday abroad in Cyprus for next year's holidays.

--
More holiday information including accommodation from Cyprus villa holidays down to
cheap Cyprus hotels for next summer at yourcyprus.info

Source: http://www.articletrader.com

In one way it can be seen to be very positive - You've hit a golf shot which didn't quite work, but you've chosen to believe that it's not your fault that it was a bit of a duff, and therefore your confidence in your golfing ability remains robustly intact.

The other way of analyzing your shot is not quite as positive. The implication of this wording is that you think that you have applied the golf club in a pleasing manner and something else has caused the ball to veer off course. The wording also implies that there is nothing which you can do to improve matters; you have given your control away. It's not your fault; it's the fault of the wind, or the hedge, or whatever else it may be. This type of thought stops you from looking at what really happened; it prevents you from seeking the cause. And golf is a game of cause and effect. Unless you are aware of the causes of the outcomes which you create, you will not be able to seek a suitable remedy.

These "I didn't deserve that" thoughts are similar to the ""It's not fair" thought processes. They stop you from learning and growing as a person and as a golfer. You don't get past go and collect your cash. Instead, you browse your local golf shop or the internet and spend rather a lot of dollars on purchasing a club with a bigger sweet spot or some gimmick which promises that you will stay on the course. In reality, I think we all know that it's not the best answer, but perhaps don't know where to look for the real answer. The majority of golfers remain baffled as to why the ball slices one day and hooks the next and just don't know how to tackle the problem. Shopping becomes a simple and easy, if expensive, salve to the golfer's soul, whilst at the same time providing an enticing ray of hope.

The amalgamation of ever more clubs and accessories is to the golfer like the casino is to the gambler. And the gambler says "I got a bad hand" or "luck wasn't on my side tonight", in the same way as the golfer says "I didn't deserve that" or "it's not fair".

A reality check is called for. Life isn't fair. Golf is a game of skill...and luck. So long as you become as skilled as you can be you are putting yourself in a better position to take advantage of luck.

No matter what happens in your golf game, you are the one who hit the ball; you are the one who told the ball what to do. No-one else hit the golf ball; you did. And the resulting shot was the outcome created by your application of the clubface onto the golf ball. So instead of saying "that's not fair", try asking "What did I do there?" "Why did the shot turn out like that?" Ask yourself questions which will allow you to get back to the root cause. Then, and only then, will you learn, and as you learn you will get better at this great game. The more questions you ask yourself, the more you will learn.

Awareness precedes choice which precedes change. You have to know the cause to change the effect. This is true of everything in life, not just golf. Why do you worry about what people think? Why don't you think you can hit that shot? Why don't you see golf as a game and have some fun playing it? Why can't you laugh at yourself? "Why?" is a wonderful question, which will encourage mental exploration and subsequent discovery, so long as you are honest with yourself and so long as you follow the thread right back to its beginnings.

Think of the phrase "a train of thought" and imagine that you are in the rear carriage, right at the back of the train, and as you ask yourself "Why is that?" and find your own answer you'll move forwards to the next carriage. Keep working through the carriages of your thought train and eventually you cannot help but reach the engine. And once you reach that engine and become the driver of your train, you can choose your driving direction.

Beware, though, as you start working your way through your carriages that you don't get fooled into thinking that you've reached your engine before you really have. Because if the answer to your questioning is that you lifted your head, or you swung from in to out, or you swung too fast, you have not yet reached your engine. Why did you lift your head? Why did you swing too fast?

Ask yourself a few more questions and be supremely honest with yourself. As you took that shot, did you see it happening first? Did you visualize it? Did you think you could pull it off? Did you commit to it? Did you absorb yourself in the task in hand and shut out peripheral details?

And if the answer to any of these questions is negative, ask yourself "Why?" and see where the answer takes you. This type of questioning will lead to real discovery and true learning. You will find that to explore your golf thoroughly you will also have to explore yourself as a person. Your mind is the bit that's in charge. Your thoughts create your emotions and direct your actions. Everything in life starts with a thought.

Look around you, wherever you are. Look at the chair you are sitting on, or a chair that's nearby. How was that chair made? You can see what it's made of and how it's been put together. You know that the wood came from a tree, and so on.

Have you reached the beginnings of that chair? NO, you have not.

That tree, that wood, could have been made into anything; how did it come to be made into this particular chair? Somebody had to see it first in their mind and then set about creating it. Everything that you experience in life begins with how you choose to think about it. And a golf shot starts in the same way.

The person who made the chair had to know how to cut the wood, put it together, and polish it and so on. But without first seeing what he wanted to achieve in his mind's eye and without confidence in his ability to achieve that outcome the chair would have remained a few pieces of wood.

Each golf shot you make has equivalent requirements; No matter how gifted or talented you are, without seeing the shot first in your mind's eye and without absolute confidence in yourself, you will not achieve the outcome you are hoping for.

Roseanna Leaton, specialist in golf hypnosis cds and hypnosis mp3 downloads.

--
With a degree in psychology and qualifications in hypnotherapy, NLP and sports psychology, and a great passion for golf, Roseanna Leaton is one of the leading golf psychologists.
Ever wonder how companies are able to turn a block of steel into a beautiful milled putter? We at Rail Gun specialize in custom milled putters.
The first thing to consider while buying a golf club putter is the material that is used for the putter head itself. More so than any other golf club in your bag, your putter relies on feel to be used successfully. So the kind of material that is used for the putter head can be important. Unfortunately, there's almost no end to the different kinds of material that are used for putter heads including stainless steel, brass, copper, aluminum and lots more. The only way to see how the putter head material transmits feel is to try them all out yourself. Lighter materials also tend to contribute to more hand action in the stroke, whereas heavier putter heads tend to slow down the stroke and help it remain more consistent.
The greatest merit in using a center shafted putter is that it provides the perfect distance control and accurate putting stance. If a center shafted putter has a brass insert, then it has been observed that the feel and feedback to the player is perfectly delivered. As soon as the ball hits at the centre of the putter face, it gives a soft "click" sound that allows a golfer to gauge his/her effectiveness in putting.

Title :- 1) Golf Terms Explained
2) Golf Terms Defined
3) Briefing of few of the golf terms
4) Common golf terms

Golf club putter terms explained in alphabetically order. The shaft end is placed - let's call it anchored - to your belly, that's the firm hinge point for making a balanced pendule swing. Has a thicker grip. Some lady golfers swear by this putter type, others can't stand the position and rather choose for more conventional equipment.
Bent Putter or Curved Putter - The tip of the shaft has a small curve to the putter head, meant for more balance and offset.
Blade Model - Iron head form, flat face, but difficult for beginners, good for mid and especially low handicap women. Sometimes the blade model is heel shafted: the tip of the shaft is tied to the heel of these type of lady golf putters. Sometimes center shafted putter: if the shaft is tied to the center of the club head - then it is also called center shaft putter.
Broomstick Golf Club Putter or Long Putter - Longer than all other lady golf putters. This lady golf club is difficult. You have to be sure about your technique to control this one.
Center Shaft Putter - The shaft is tied to the center of the head. Difficult to control. Beginners better can choose another one.
Conventional Putter - Use this golf club putter, if you could, in other words, at least start with a conventional putter. That's what pro's are teaching us. So let us be well-behaved! Concentrate on you putting line and go!
Face Balanced - The toe and the heel are in balance. You can test this by yourself: just put the middle of the shaft on your forefinger - if the golf putter remains balancing horizontal, then it is a face balanced club. I recommended this one for short putts. Ideal for a perfect pendule swing!
Heel Toe Weighted - The weight has been distributed equally to the heel and toe - sometimes by using inserts (see under Insert), sometimes by a cavity designed center. Meant to make, according to manufacturers, the lady golf putter more forgiving.
Hosel - The point where the shaft is fixed onto the lady golf putter head.
Insert - Small stripes of metal to distributed the weight in a lady golf putter head. Inserts of soft materials are used to create a kind of a jumping or trampoline effect when you hit the ball, or a buffing effect when the putter is used at a very fast green.
Mallet - Putter with a large and well-known semi-circled head. The weight is equally devided over the head.
Milled Putter - Golf club putter heads constructed by a special production method for creating the perfect loft and precision.
Offset Golf Putter - Your hands are further ahead from the club face. Meant for lady golfers who actually push the ball to the hole. Your eyes are more above the ball, thus you can create more top spin.
Perimeter Weighted - The weight has been distributed over the edges of the head, creating a largers sweetspot, therefore these lady golf putters forgive more mishits.
Toe Weighted - The weight has been distributed to the toe of the golf club putter.

--
milled putter

Source: http://www.articletrader.com

Golf is more than just being an executive game, and definitely far from being boring. It can give, like all other sport, some form of physical fitness to the players. It may not be as extreme as that of basketball or baseball but it is definitely both a physical and mental game.

Golf fitness is achieved by several golf swing techniques, variations of swings, and even unique player\'s stance. The balance between the body and arm angle as well as the swing thrust needs a lot of mental and physical work, though not really tedious in nature.

Golf swing tips are purposely created to improve player\'s swing. On the onset, it may look easier, but golf swing is far more than just swinging your arms with the golf club and hope that the ball lands on your targeted spot. It needs strategy, proper execution, and sufficient power of thrust.

The several golf swing tips are proper and appropriate grip, stance, and swing. Under grip, you can have several options such as the interlocking grip popularly used to have better leverage for maximum power, overlapping grip which is often used by make golfers because it naturally requires stronger grips, and the baseball grip which is used by beginners with not much swing power yet.

Stance generally varies. Each player has its own comfort zone when it comes to golf stance. It plays around the balance between the overall weight and its distribution. For example, you may not want to put too much weight on your buttocks by bending your knee to much, thereby decreasing your thrust power. Or, you do not want to overly straighten your arms when swinging because it may affect the angle of your thrust and miss the desired spot. Basically, the general rule under body stance is that the player should choose the one which he is most comfortable with, where he feels most relaxed. If you are tensioned, it will reflect in your performance and especially on your swing.

Next up is the backswing, downswing and follow through. These swings are the perfection of both the grip and stance. It is the main means to an end. The grip and stance are all in support to give out the best golf swing. Every role, from the arms to the legs, to the head positioning, will all combine to give out the proper and best swing a golfer can give.

Well, like all sport, golf is meant to be interesting, enjoyable and fun. With all these technicalities at hand, you might think that there\'s just too much to think about golf. There are in fact, but it is only at the start. Once you get the hang of it, the grip, stance and swing will just come out naturally. And soon enough, you will find that golf really is such an enjoyable sport, offering endless possibilities.

--
Golf is more than just being an executive game, and definitely far from being boring.
How long is a piece of string? I have a friend who plays off a handicap of five and swears by two and three quarter pints at lunchtime whenever he's in a 36 hole competition - and generally shoots a sub-par round when adhering to this regime. I'm not sure how it would affect my game, but doubt it would create such a positive result.

What happens to your golf when you've been out and had a bit (or a lot) too much the night before? I remember dropping off someone one morning for a Sunday round at 8am and seeing another gentleman attempting to step out of the passenger seat of the car, wobbling a bit, and nearly falling into the trunk as he tried to lift out his clubs. I later discovered he only lasted half the round before having to walk in. What a shame to ruin what should be a nice relaxing morning playing golf with your mates simply because of drinking to such an excess you no longer know your own name. We have all seen similar spectacles I'm sure.

How does alcohol affect your golf? The answer is that it depends on the person. Are you the sort of person who gets happy, relaxed and comfortable when drinking? Or are you the type of person who gets morose? Or angry? We are all unique and individual and you play golf from the platform of you, the person. Most people find that one or two drinks will relax them, and more will have a rather different effect.

If you are the type of person who is so laid back that you are almost horizontal, to have a couple of drinks and relax further will probably mean that you will lose your focus, lose your attention and your golf will suffer. If, on the other hand, you are a slightly anxious person, one or two drinks are likely to relax you and rub off the edge of anxiety and allow you to focus clearly and pay attention to the task in hand; hence your golf will benefit.

To play your best golf an optimum level of arousal is required. If you are too relaxed, attention and focus will fade, and if you are too aroused your logical, thinking part of the brain is bypassed and your ability to make good strategy decisions will be temporarily put on hold. Over-arousal in effect makes you "stupid" - you cannot think straight; you cannot think logically and clearly.

It is a known and proven fact that when you get angry or when you get over aroused, this clouds your judgment and makes you more likely to react with only your lower brain functions - it denies access to higher brain functions - it inhibits the cortical regions of the brain, and so problem solving is hampered, reaction speeds and co-ordination are impaired, and you cannot think as clearly. Thus decisions are less effective, listening skills are impaired, and creativity is obstructed. Not the best recipe for good golf.

Any exaggerated emotional state (which of course alcohol induces) is accompanied by physiological and biological changes - your heart rate increases, blood pressure rises, adrenaline is secreted at a greater level. Not very helpful when you are trying to play a game which requires a state of relaxed concentration in order to be able to put your best swing on the golf ball.

And if that isn't enough your ability to learn is also affected by exaggerated emotional states. Our emotional state is critical to what we learn and how well we recall and apply what we have learned. The amygdale in the emotional brain can hijack the intellectual processes when over-arousal is experienced.

Effectively, too much alcohol can trigger hormones which induce tension and anxiety, bad decisions, unclear planning, jerky movements, and rushed tempo; you simply cannot think clearly. And everything in life starts with a thought, including your golf. You have to think clearly, make good strategy decisions, you have to be creative and see the shot you plan to make; and after you have made these decisions you need to execute the planned shot, which requires relaxed muscles, good hand-eye co-ordination, and good co-ordination in general and, of course, good balance and a feeling of groundedness.

What are the chances of this combination of requirements when you have been on a bender the night before? The outcome will vary from one person to another. Some people find that their golf improves with alcohol, their co-ordination is better, their focus clearer and the result far more pleasing - their slice miraculously disappears and they sink every putt; This may be due to the fact that they simply don't care, that they feel so ill and hung over they want to get every shot out of the way as quickly as possible so that they can go home and nurse their sore head on the sofa (or get into the 19th and have a hair of the dog!). If you are the sort of person who thinks and worries too much about their golf, alcohol may have this effect on you - making you "get out of your own way" and just hit the ball.

If, on the other hand, you are generally a calm, focused and positive thinking golfer, alcohol will hi-jack your logical thought process and reduce your ability to make good shot choices whilst on the course.

In summary, alcohol consumption will affect each person's golf in a different way from the mental perspective. For some, it will help (in small quantities), whilst for others it will inhibit. In large quantities, very few people are positively affected. From a physical, mechanical perspective, lack of co-ordination and a problem with balance are never going to help anyone's game of golf!

Best to save the alcohol for the 19th, unless you know yourself well enough to be sure that it will have a positive effect.
