Your Mental Golf Game Attitude
As a beginner in playing golf, you can be bombarded with so much technicalities of game. Most of your time is spent on playing a round of golf and a few minutes is spent on mental conditioning and preparation for the game. Preparing mentally is as important as preparing physically for each shot in golf. How you prepare in both of these areas is essential in acing the game. Mental golf game skills should be developed to help the golfer to be focused, confident and consistent during the game. Your attitude and your thoughts determine your success. Anger Do you always reach a boiling point when you have setbacks while playing golf? One bad shot could ruin a golfer's good start and eventually the entire game. Some would overreact and lose their temper during the game. This could affect not only your game but also your relationship with other players. Learn to let go of that emotion immediately and move on. Do not let it affect the remaining shots. Recover from it and rebuild your confidence. Do not dwell on the mistake but make learn from it. Negativity Is your mind set to win the game or fail every time you step on the golf course? Your mind controls your body. When you send negative messages to your brain, your body acts subsequently. The more you think of all the negativities in the world, the less likely you will succeed and this applies to all your endeavors not just golf. Negative thoughts can be a result of the golfer's fear to embarrass themselves in front of their peers or the crowd. S/he inject in his or her mind that s/he is going to fail even before the game starts, which is a big problem. This could use up the entire player's energy and now more focused all things except the game. Positive thinking may not be easy but practice makes perfect. Learn to conquer negative thoughts and be pressure-free. Limitations Are you usually bothered by what you cannot do? Every person is bound by limitation. Every one has his/her own strength and every one has his/her set of weaknesses too. And most often, one tends to focus more on the weaknesses than on the strengths. Learn to gradually erase the predetermined weaknesses and uncover your full human potential. You have the power within you to achieve your peak golf performance. Therefore, learn, relearn and unlearn. Learn to master your mental abilities and capabilities. Relearn to affirm yourself of your potentials. Unlearn all the negativities you've branded yourself. =================================================================== Bobby Jones said it best...
