Choosing the Perfect Golf Weather

Submitted by DallasSEOCO

Golfing is a sport that is enjoyed by many people today. For some, it is only a casual enjoyment of spending time with friends or family while playing a relaxing game of golf. For others, it can be a highly competitive sport that they play at every opportunity. The ideal golfing weather will depend on your level of play. Some people have no problem playing in cold or really hot weather, while others prefer days that are sunny but not too hot and not too cold.

The wind is a big issue for golf games. A strong wind can cause many problems with the long drives. For that reason, most will not play golf when the wind is very strong. Additionally, because golfing involves a lot of walking, many people do not like to play when it is very humid either.

If you are a player to whom the weather is not a factor, when playing in really hot or humid weather you should make sure you have plenty of liquids on hand to stay hydrated during your game. Additionally you need to make sure you are using sun block to avoid sun burn and wear a hat to protect your eyes from glare.

If you choose to play in cold weather, it is important to dress in layers. Again, because golf tends to involve a lot of walking, you might find yourself getting too warm even though the temperature outside may be cold. When you dress in layers, you have the ability to remove a layer as you become too warm. If you only wear a very warm sweater, you will not be able to remove it and thus will become overheated and uncomfortable.

There is one particular weather condition during which time golf should be avoided completely. Any time there is lightening, you should not remain on the golf course. More people are seriously injured or killed by lightening bolt strikes on the golf course than in any other area. This is due to the flat surface of the course. It is well known that the lightening will strike the tallest object. On a golf course, a person would be the tallest object.
