Different Places Golf Courses In India

Golf in India was first introduced by the British in 1826. The first golf club in India was named appropriately as the Royal Calcutta Golf and was established in the year 1829 and is now the oldest golf club in India. It is also the first golf club to be established outside Great Britain.

The expansion of the British rule in India gave an impetus to the growth of new golf clubs all over British India. Wherever there was vacant grassy land, golf clubs grew and found new homes. By the end of the 19th century there were more than a dozen golf clubs in India.

The diversity of India also makes it the home of the highest golf course in the world at Gulmarg (2,700 meters) in Jammu and Kashmir. There are golf courses in India situated in the mountains, plains, and deserts and at beach resorts. Most of the Indian golf courses are well connected by road, railways and air.
