Let's go back to basicsSubmitted by dstargel Fri, 12 Jun 2009
You may ask what are the techniques that you need to know to improve your golf swing. Well it is quite simple. All you need to do is to go back to basics. All golf techniques point back to the basics. The basics are the foundation in which you are to build your golf skills.
You must work on your posture first. Your posture will give you the momentum you need for your golf swing. A good stance will enable you to adapt the momentum of your golf swing depending on the situation. Posture includes your stance, grip and golf swing. First, you must know the proper way to execute your golf swing. You must know where to position your feet so that you will get the balance for you to swing your golf club. You must also bend your knees slightly. Be aware of the position of your shoulders to give you an enhanced swing on your momentum. Remember that the power of your golf swing does not come from your arms alone. You must channel get the power from your legs up to your shoulders so it is important to know the correct posture so that the flow will be natural. This is where tempo and rhythm enters in our topic. Rhythm is the flow of your golf swing while the tempo is the speed of your golf swing. Since every situation is different from one another, timing is essential. If your rhythm and tempo are combined together with timing, then you will have a better golf swing. You may already know that there are several types of golf clubs used in the sport and each golf club has its own role and functions. The woods for example differ from the irons in terms of when to use them. Woods are used for long approach shots while irons are for shorter shots. Hybrids are a combination of the good characteristics of the woods and irons. You may know as well where wedges are used. We have the sand wedge, lob wedge and gap wedges. Putters are used in putting your golf balls. Let\'s now tackle the grip. This is the method of how to hold your golf club. We have the Vardon overlap grip, interlocking grip and the ten finger grip. The most common grip among golfers is the Vardon grip. The least common is the ten finger grip. It is not a big deal to learn the grip what is important is what grip you are most comfortable with. If you will be able to learn to combine all of these factors, then you will become a better golfer. Learning these things can be tiring but if you are determined enough to improve, then there is nothing out there who can stop you.
The basics are the foundation of your golf swing.
