Having a good golf swing is an essential part of playing golf successfully but unfortunately to achieve one takes constant practice. Your body will need to be trained in order for you to perform to the best of your ability. In this article I hope to give some basic tips to help you improve your golf swing hopefully you will end up shooting in the 80's or 90's

Everyone has a favourite golf player I bet you do to? Is it Tiger Woods or Ernie Els? Have you ever thought that your swing looks like theirs? Woods and Els are two great golf players. When you watch them play, you will definitely notice their style and how they have graceful and powerful swings. Honestly, it is difficult to imitate that just by watching.

Using my three tips below will help you on your way to advancing your swing technique.

1. Warm up - Just like any other game or sport you should warm up, golf players need a little warming up before starting a round. This is what most players; especially amateurs often forget thinking that the round of golf is enough.

Arrive a little early at the golf course and take a few minutes to stretch those muscles and warm up. This will make your muscles perform better as they have been prepared for the exercise to come. Taking a few swings in the driving range will also help you get tuned up and perform better.

2. Exercise - Exercise in general is really important, not just for golf. If you set yourself a regular exercise program that works all your muscles you will soon find that your body is better equipped and ready for any activity. Regular exercise will also help prevent the common body aches and pains that you may have after a round of golf.

Making a habit of regular exercise, especially tuning up your muscles will have a great impact on your swing. Toned muscles will improve your stance and increase total balance and control on your swings.

3. Do not overdo your swing - One of the most common mistakes is trying too hard. It is really tempting to give your swing that extra effort. However, until you have mastered full control over your swing it is best to try for accuracy rather than distance. The balance and control are the keys to mastering your swing and getting the results you are looking for, If you then add form and stance your will have a winning formula. Tip no 2 is the one to concentrate on for this as regular exercise is the key to improving your body to give it the ability to perform at its best

These simple steps are easy to do but for extra help you may find it advantageous to ask the pros you can do this personally at your golf course or online there are many sites you can chose from. They have much experience helping others individually and the advice they can give draws on this experience.

Finally improving your swing could be a case of mind over matter as some players are so conscious of the desire to improve their swing there minds are focussed on this rather than the task in hand. try to keep you mind off your swing and of the fairway ahead you will be amazed at how quickly your body will adapt and a good natural swing will follow.

Draw up a plan of action and try to do these things regularly and you and your opponents will soon be noticing the change to your golf swing and game.
