A lot of people in the United States are enthusiasts of sports events. Every season, they race to the sports stadiums, filling it in to their maximum capacity. The stadiums thunder with cheers, screams, and applauses as fans watch their favorite players trying to win all-important interstate championships.

Each sport has its own season during the year. And one of the most anticipated seasons is football season. Fans from all over the country flock over to the host state to watch their home team muscle it out with the host state's team and vice versa. Stadiums thunder with cheers and screams as huge football players try to outrun, outdo, tackle, block, or outmaneuver equally muscular opponents so they could score a goal. States usually have their own team-for example, Maryland's Baltimore Ravens, Texas's Dallas Cowboys, and Illinois's Chicago Bears.

During football season, revenues of any business in both the home and visitor states rise up. No entrepreneur would miss the opportunity of the having big sales coming from visitors and residents alike. For instance, during football season, hotels and motels are fully booked, housing the visiting team and their fans; and restaurants run 24/7, serving both athletes and fans.

Aside from this service-oriented establishments, retail stores also benefit from the season, especially those that sell sports merchandise. Sports merchandise sales rise up in a dramatic rate, giving the owners financial satisfaction. Team caps, shirts, sweatshirts, teddy bears, car accessories, and other memorabilia are usually sold out weeks and days before the season.

Fans want to wear their team's jerseys, caps, and jackets during the game itself. They want to accessorize their vehicles with their home team's member's bobhead dolls, footballs, and teddy bears. Such display shows how loyal they are to their home team and showing their team their support.

Additionally, these fans are not just enthusiasts for the sport itself. They are also avid collectors, and collecting this merchandise is an offshoot hobby of the sport itself. Collecting home team memorabilia is serious business for many of them. In fact, many football enthusiasts spend a lot of money and effort trying to get an autographed shirt, an authentic football, and original memoirs from players of their home team. The collection and the effort to get these collectibles are all worth it for the enthusiasts.

They also take very good care of their collections. For them, marring their home team's representations is tantamount to disrespecting their home team. In fact, the most adamant fans usually have a collection that looks as good as new, even if they are already many years old.

To maintain such quality, fans usually do regular maintenance of their collectibles.

1. Brushing and wiping with a dry cloth - this is a basic yet important part of maintenance. Regular brushing and wiping prevents dust and dirt from accumulating on the collectibles.

2. Proper placement – fans are aware of the dangers of exposing their collectibles to harsh natural elements. They place their items away from areas of exposure.

3. Quality check – even before buying the item, fans usually check for any defects. Even those with minute defects are rejected.

4. Handling – proper handling ensures the collectible's long life.
