No matter how experienced you may be in the field of soccer, a query like how to coach soccer gets you into a thinking mode. This is even more important with respect to soccer coaching because keeping the players motivated all the time is a lot tougher than it seems.

Let me share with you 5 simple yet great tips to help you take your team's performance to the next level.

1. Always plan comprehensively: Your planning should be careful and detailed for you to succeed in coaching young players. When deciding the team goals and the timelines to achieve them, involve the players and take their opinions into consideration too. Goals not met within the time frames decided for them, get in the way of a team's progress.

Once you've finalized the plan, remain committed to it but allow flexibility for minor adjustments. Your plans may be foolproof but unforeseen situations calls for final changes in the plan.

2. Kids should enjoy being a part of practice sessions: Design your practice schedule in a way that includes a variety of drills, activities, fun-filled games and exercise so that the kids don't feel the monotony. You can introduce these in a variety of ways. For example, after the practice session is over, divide them into small groups and introduce fun games that not only relax their mind but also promote team spirit among them.

3. Discipline and freedom work best together: Discipline in the team should be a priority for you as a coach. Still, the easiest way to encourage kids to obey rules and be disciplined is that they should be freed from unnecessary control. You must always understand the importance of freedom and relaxation while teaching soccer.

Give the players sufficient time between the drills so that they can do their own stuff, interact with each other and simply relax. The concept of how to coach soccer also encapsulates a good idea to take them out on an excursion once in a while.

4. Remain supportive and tolerant: Stir your players to keep doing new things as and when possible and if they are not able to do things correctly, show your support. Keep scrutinizing their activities. If you must intervene to correct a potential blunder or a silly mistake, do it without reprimanding them.

Remember that punishment inculcates in players, a feeling of rejection while being compassionate and encouraging generates great ideas and performances.

5. Maintain balance: A practice session is where the kids get to know their talent and soccer skills. It is well known that when we talk of a team, there are bound to be players of different calibers; the good, bad, and worst. As a coach, it is your duty to use your best players to inspire and motivate the others.

Make the best and bad players pals so that they share tips and techniques while in a session and also after it. It is crucial that you do not make any sort of comparison between the players ever.

Your objective now is to make sure that you use these tips to improve your approach about how to coach soccer.
