When you see all those college and NBA players with incredible jumping skills do wonder if they have a natural ability or just worked really hard to get that skill? Well, there are a hand full that do seem to have been born with some natural ability. They have the good genetics with the strong legs and upper body.

The others, they worked extra hard to get stronger and learn the technique of leaping.
And there are some good basketball players that just can not seem to get a lot of height in their jump. They are still excellent players but you will not see them doing slam dunks.

If you want to gain some extra inches to your vertical jump or leap, choose a vertical jump program to follow so you can focus on the right training methods. When you start your training be prepared to spend months improving and have a positive attitude. Results of jump improvement vary among each person, some may just have much stronger legs than the others or some who have never trained their legs before make some really great gains.

Listed here are a few of the steps you must do to jump higher.
1. Get stronger, spend time in the gym or use your own weights. Do squats and dead lifts to strengthen the thighs, the most important muscle you use to jump.

2. Improve your core strength, this would be your mid section and lower back. Strengthening your core will help your balance and over all fitness.

3. If you are over weight or could spare a few pounds now would be a good time to loose it. You need to improve your strength to weight ratio, more muscle and less fat.

There are more key points to consider but this will give you some idea of what to expect. If you really want to jump higher take yourself serious and go for it.
