Review: Piranha paintball gun

• The Piranha BL VF G3

The Piranha Bottom Line Vertical Feed G3 is a part of the Generation 3 line of paintball markers produced by PMI. Despite being on the bottom of the Piranha paintball gun line, the Piranha BL can still perform on the playing field. This gun is great for players who are just starting to get into the game of paintball.

The Piranha BL is priced at approximately $120, and this includes a set of o-rings, a spare hammer spring, a barrel plug and two Allen wrenches. The Piranha BL also comes with a one year warranty upon purchase.

• The Piranha Pro TS G3

The Piranha Pro Tournament Series G3 is considered to be the ultimate paintball gun from the Piranha gun line. The Piranha Pro TS comes with an owner’s manual, a barrel plug, spare o-rings, three Allen wrenches, and a one year warranty.

The Piranha Pro TS is said to be the best looking paintball gun from the Piranha line. It comes in two distinct color styles: the white-blue-black and the white-green-black fade patterns. This marker’s anodizing is of outstanding quality and looks really professional on the field; however, such great anodizing does have some drawbacks. This marker will stand out in a crowd, drawing more attention to you. The colors used on the gun may also attract attention, giving away your position when playing woodsball TM where staying hidden is a requirement.

The Piranha Pro TS comes with the “Pure Energy” regulator with a 1200 psi pressure gauge, a vertical ball feed, a low pressure chamber (Ram Air), a chrome ball detent, a beaver tail sight rail, a customized drop forward with a 10 degree bottom line adapter, a rear velocity adjuster, an air filter, and a 45 trigger frame made of aluminum.

The Piranha Pro TS holds its accuracy even up to a range of 105 feet. Most paintball guns will have their balls curve at an approximate range of 85 feet, but not the Piranha Pro TS. The Piranha Pro TS is also very consistent with its shot velocity. This consistency can be attributed to its “Pure Energy” regulator. The constant velocity of the gun also contributes to the marker’s accuracy.

The Piranha Pro TS can be taken apart easily just like every other Piranha. The bolt can be easily removed for cleaning via the strip pin. The owner’s manual that comes with the gun also contains the steps on cleaning and maintaining the marker. This also includes instructions on how to disassemble, clean and readjust the regulator. It will only take you approximately 5 minutes to take apart, clean and reassemble the Piranha Pro TS’ bolt and striker assemblies.

The Piranha Pro TS is made with a very compact design and great balance, making it very easy to use and operate when in the field. The Pro TS is accurate, light and provides its user with an ability to quickly maneuver the gun when on the playing field.

• The Piranha VTL G2

The Piranha VTL G2 is a good entry level paintball gun, and can be bought at a price ranging between $70 and $105. This marker is no longer being produced but can still be found in paintball gun sales for a very cheap price.

The Piranha VTL G2 has a Vertical Feed Bottle Adapter with a 45 grip and a double trigger frame. It has a raised sight rail and its internals are ceramic coated. This marker is made with a stainless steel valve and a built in power feed. It comes with a black finish and a one year warranty.

The Piranha VTL G2 is a very capable entry level gun. This gun has a lot of features and is sold at a very reasonable price. It can also be upgraded and modified with new regulators, nitro systems and barrels. It is made with a very clean design but is still a good looking paintball gun. It is also relatively easy to maintain and very easy to clean. One bad thing about the Piranha VTL is its stock barrel which has a rather poor accuracy rating, however, this can easily be remedied by replacing the barrel to increase your accuracy and range.
