White Water Rafting - How Fit Do I Need To BeSubmitted by RickeyPearce Mon, 25 Jan 2010
Most outdoor activities require some level of physical fitness to be truly enjoyed. The same can be said for white water rafting, however that does not mean you have to count yourself out if you aren't one hundred percent in shape! Physical fitness is something we all struggle with today. Our fast paced lifestyles do not always lend time for healthy eating habits nor scheduled exercise. Don't let your body build concerns stand in the way of a truly fantastic experience!
Maybe you are a bit overweight…hey who isn't nowadays? Let's see, you can always try to lose a few pounds and gain some muscle mass prior to the planned date of your trip. There is no shame in working towards a goal such as this in anticipation of the fun to be had. What better motivation can you find than looking your best, feeling your best, and being able to enjoy a vigorous outdoor adventure without feeling overworked and exhausted? Have the opposite problem than some of your friends? Maybe you are the quintessential "ten pounds soaking wet" individual that never could add on the pounds be it weight or muscle. Think you can't join in the fun because you are not a muscle bound work-out junkie? Think again. It's not to say that a little muscle mass won't help you out with the paddling, but when was the last time that you saw the hulk paddling down a river? Muscles can mean healthy, but it also means greater weigh; having a greater mass when trying to float merrily along is not always the best thing in the world. River rafting was made to be enjoyed by one and all Remember, this is not a beauty pageant. You are not competing for the crown, best looking, or swimsuit competition. There is no modeling contract or million dollar check at the end of your journey. White water rafting is for people of all shapes and sizes. This is your vacation. You are there to enjoy life to its fullest and explore the beauty of nature. Leave the nay-sayers in your wake!
Ricky Pearce is an outdoor enthusiast whose latest passion is white water rafting trips with friends and family. While on vacation last year, he discovered Colorado Rafting. With experienced guides, you can enjoy a relaxing trip down the river or a truly epic adventure braving the rapids. Come see what real white water rafting is about, and plan your next Colorado rafting adventure!
