A new type of car that is becoming popular is the hybrid vehicle, which use rechargeable energy systems of storage to power the car. These cars can also use alternate methods of power such as gasoline as well. In 1898, Ferdinand Porsche, who was from Germany, came up with a hybrid vehicle called the Lohner-Porsche, and this vehicle had an engine that worked by internal combustion to spin the generator, which then sent power to the electric motor of the vehicle. This innovative invention was shown in Paris at an Exhibition in 1900 and broke a variety of speed records with an amazing speed of 56 kmph.
