The most common phones that are based on DECT technology are cordless phones. DECT phones consist of a base station and usually a single handset. But today, multiple handsets phones are also available in the market. The working of a DECT phone is very simple. It consists of a base station, which is the main component of a DECT phone, and is directly connected to a phone line. The other component is the headset. When a base station receives a call, it covert the incoming electrical signal into radio signals. These radio signals are then converted into human understandable signal that is voice, using a decoder.

DECT phones provide many features to the user so as to make conversation easier an enjoyable. For example, these phones provides an extraordinary sound quality, good range, good battery backup and some other features like ID caller, display screen etc. Today, DECT phones also support 3G. These features, along with some other useful ones, make DECT phones a useful device in both home and office.

DECT phones are widely used in homes and offices. These phones provides us the freedom of roaming like if a user want to talk with a friend in garden then by using DECT phones he can easily do it. The roaming area depends on the range provided by the base station. Today, there are phones that provide more than 300 meters range. However, increment in the range decreases the sound quality. Also, if a user wants multiple handsets, then this facility is also provided by the DECT phones. In offices also we can use it for the same purpose. Like we can install multiple handsets on different cabins and can use them for intercommunication. If two team mates want to chat about their ongoing projects then they can easily do it using DECT phones.
