HDPE Pipe - For Leakage-free Water or Liquid Supply

HDPE pipes though cannot be joined with adhesives can be molded, and reshaped by melting. Moreover, it can be joined by welding. Pipes made up of low density polyethylene are prone to leakage, and also have the possibility of carrying toxic minerals of the land. Durability and the enduring feature of high density polyethylene pipes makes it a safe carrier for water supply. There have been instances which prove the durability of the HDPE pipe lining, such as replacement of the rusted metal pipes that were washed out at parts of the Colorado highway culvert with polyethylene pipes. These pipes are also known as PEHD (Polyethylene High-Density) pipes. These are lighter than water and are made from a kind of plastic product, derived from petroleum.

Why use HDPE pipe for liquid supply?

Here are a few reasons for which it is beneficial to choose pipes made up of HDPE rather than any other pipe:

Leakage free: Polyethylene pipes are joined with heat and the joints are more hardy than the other pipes. This makes it leakage free from the joints. In most of the pipes, joints are the places where leakage occurs and toxic materials seep in.

Chemical and corrosion resistant: PEHD pipes are used in boring and mining which affirms the fact that it is one of the hardiest plastic pipes available in the market today. It protects the liquid inside from the toxic acids, salts, various other kinds of fuels/liquids and also provides protection from the natural aggressors like bacteria and fungi. It is both corrosion and abrasion resistant. Moreover, low maintenance cost gives it an added advantage.

Smooth flow of liquid: Iron pipes tend to accumulate rust and thus its surface becomes uneven. Concrete pipes can never match the smooth surface of polyethylene. The smooth surface ensures less turbulence at the time of the flow of liquid at high pressure. Unlike the iron pipes, there are no scaling of rusts and accumulation of it. Consequently, there is no hindrance in the flow of liquid.

Easy installation: These PEHD pipes are lighter than water, making it is easy to install . Since it is produced in coils so it is easy for transportation.

Flexible: Being one of the most durable materials, the HDPE pipe linings, used in freezing areas do not burst. Due to its high flexibility, it is used in rough and undulating terrain without the concern of breaking or damaging the pipe, it is also used at earthquake prone regions too.

These pipes are produced in a wide range of diameters (from 1/2 Inch to 63 inch) and shapes, enabling it to carry and distribute various kinds of liquids.

So, in this 21st century, hopefully it would be easier to provide toxin-free cheap water to the places that are still in need of water, with the proper usage of PEHD pipes. Moreover, they can provide a safe supply of other liquids through polyethylene pipes, without intoxicating the earth and the other water-bodies.
