HDPE Pipeline Liner - Reasons of Installing Them

Submitted by taneisha

HDPE pipeline liner being corrosion free, easily malleable and impervious by nature makes it a cost effective pipe lining solution for both domestic and business purposes. Normal pipes are prone to leakage and damage but the high density nature of HDPE pipes makes it impervious to the weather as well as the natural toxics. Inside the regular pipelines, cavities are formed. At the same time depositions occur in these pipes and obstruct the flow of liquid or gas. Thus, maintenance cost of these pipelines are very high. HDPE liner pipe are produced through Process Intensification which reduces the consumption of energy. It not only cuts down the price of manufacturing and and consequently cost but also is environment friendly.
Why install HDPE pipeline liner?
High Density Polyethylene pipeline industry has revolutionized the pipeline industry. It can work wonders to the existing pipelines and make them safer. It will also increase their longevity.
High Density Polyethylene pipes, being malleable and light weight, makes it easy to carry anywhere and install at any place. No heavy equipments are needed for lifting them. Since they are produced in coils or lengths, joining at regular interval is not required. It is worthwhile to mention that HDPE pipes cannot be joined or welded like regular pipes but needs to be fused. Most liner companies now undertake the fusion process in a nearby location where the lining is scheduled to be done. The fuse of HDPE pipeline is lesser in diameter than the host pipes. The elasticity of the polyethylene material makes it more agile and flexible. This allows it to withstand temperature variation and also tremendous pressure of the soil, especially during earthquakes.
Since the HDPE liner pipe are not welded but are joined through fusion (including the sockets, butts, flanges), so it makes the joints as tough as the pipes itself. Thus, the joints are completely leak proof. Products or materials that are carried through the pipes, lined with high density polyethylene, are moved safely and securely.
The smooth nature of the polyethylene makes them a better carrier than the cast iron, concrete or steel pipes. There is less dragging inside these pipes and at the time of high flow, there is less turbulence because the non-sticky surface negates the pitting and scaling chances. So pipes lined with polyethylene increases the inflow of liquid inside. On the other hand, continuous inflow may contribute to fouling and contamination of water or the gas. Existing metallic pipes or concrete pipes that are used in both domestic and business places should be lined with right materials. That is why trenchless technology is used for installing HDPE pipeline liner.
The HDPE pipe liner companies take utmost care with new techniques, like fusion of HDPE to install and repair the loosely fitted pipelines. This new technique tries to ensure the maximum inflow with optimum impermeability and consequently enhanced longevity of your pipes. As a customer one needs to conduct a research to find an efficient and reliable company with high end technology, like HDPE pipeline liner.

Hope Taneisha Jones is a Greenpeace member and has been contributing on the efficiency of HDPE pipeline liner. Her views on liner pipe, made up of polyethylene, would help the consumers to decide on its' effectiveness.
