How Does Your Cellphone Work?

Submitted by annapeacocks

A cellular phone also knows as mobile radiotelephone or mobile telephone, uses a network of short-range transmitters or radio frequency located in overlapping cells throughout a region, with a central station enabling connections of the phone to regular telephone lines or other mobile telephone.

Cellular phone service provider usually uses towers for regulating its radio frequency at one time, for example 3,000 phone calls simultaneously for a small town with population less than 3,000 people. As for large city, the creation of more cell phone towers is needed depending on the demand of the selected area. Meaning that, the more population of a town, the more cellular phone users there will be, while for a small town it may use only one cellular phone tower. Every mobile phone is designed with a set of little bars telling its users the strength or signal of the frequency before you are able to make a call. Whenever your bars are low, maybe your distance are far between the cellular phone tower and if it is high, you are closer to it and should be receiving excellent coverage or reception.

Even if you are walking or driving, you actually will pass through from one tower to another enabling your cellular phone to automatically connect to the tower that has the strongest signal. Sometimes, even you will not be able to notice any changes has happened because your call still continue without any interruptions. Each of the towers has a number of channels which enable it to increase the number of users that will be able to connect to that particular tower. There are more than 1,664 channels and as we all know cellular phone uses radio frequency, therefore we as users should always be extra careful when talking on the cellular phone because anyone who managed to gets onto the same channel as you will be able to hear your conversation either by accidentally or purposely.

By understanding how our cellular phone works, we should from now on watch what we say through the cellular phone in order to protect yourself.
