The Future Of Mobile TechnologySubmitted by David Salt Tue, 3 Nov 2009
Mobile technology is progressing at such a massive pace that it has become difficult to tell where the future of mobile technology lies. The new technologies that are emerging might just change the way we live & work, just like how e-mail & internet have changed how business is done. In fact is true to quite an extent that these technologies are not independent of each other. They are actually complementary to each other as the progress in one technology leads to building up of another new technology.
In the future, mobile technology is expected to become faster than before & also inexpensive due to standardisation. As the cost of producing mobile technology has fallen in recent years, cheap mobile phones have flooded the market. WiMax will be a revolution in terms of wireless broadband. The typical speeds will now be 2Mbit per second to 4MBit per second. It will priced in the price ranges similar to that of DSL & cable access which are cheaper than the more expensive alternative that is 3G. In fact sprinting ahead into the future, it is believed that multihop relay networks will surpass the WiMax & LTE technologies. Depending on the condition, the route taken by the data will vary. The best route and the best transmission mode will be identified for transfer of data. After this it is expected that the next level improvement in technology will be the ad hoc networks. Herein the data will be relayed through across the device which means that a mobile phone itself will be a movable access point. This mobile technology might take about eight to ten years to get in place. The most incredible thing about this technology will be that it does not require building up of any infrastructure. The network access will be extended to where there is none without the need of creating any infrastructure. Another progress in mobile technology is going to be fixed mobile convergence technology. It will enable people to hold on to one phone & one phone number which can be used for communication virtually from any corner of the world. This is based on femtocells which look like wi-fi routers and carry signals through a broadband line to larger networks. This means that one can get rid of the fixed landline phones & use the mobile phone everywhere. About the Author
