The Favorite Things About RadioSubmitted by galaxywd Thu, 5 Jun 2008
Radio has been the friend of a lot people for many years. It has been much needed company for the lonely, been the life of many a party, and broadcast thousands of news events. It provided family entertainment in the home for many years and kept away the boredom of endless long road trips. During the big wars it was the main source of information about what happened from day to day and the progress that was being made.
Even now we use the radio for much the same reason as we did back in days gone by. We hear our favorite music and the latest hits songs as soon as they are released. When you have to drive back and forth to work or other places on a regular basis, almost everyone has a favorite station they like to listen to while they drive. There are many great radio personalities that are on the radio and people can become accustomed to listening to certain ones. On your way in to work in the morning, it can seem like there is something missing if you do not hear that familiar voice of a radio host to keep you company on the trip. Many of these radio hosts are funny and informative. They bring us the latest news and interesting tidbits of information as well as music. Satellite radio has become very popular these days despite the fact that you must subscribe to it for a certain charge. Business people who have to make long trips probably like it the most because the satellite signal follows them all across country and does not fade out. These satellite radio stations are also commercial free for the most part which means that listening without constant commercial interruptions is much more enjoyable. Listening to a radio station that remains static free at all times is a great motivator for paying for the privilege. Even with the old fashioned radio signal, people still listen to their local stations faithfully. The radio has played a part in breaking up the monotony of a long work day for years. Factory workers and office workers alike will play the radio all day long sometimes just to have something interesting to hear while they work. Of course, teenagers are still attached to listening to the radio as they have been for years despite the fact that they have Ipods, Mp3 players, Cable and Satellite music channels, and the internet.
