More of the attention now a days is on reception of the radios as a large number of radios are used in cars, public transport like buses, offices and homes having window panes which come out to be an obstacle in radio wave transfer. The satellite radio receiving antenna and their receiving systems are being developed so that the users can enjoy water clear relay of programs.

Presently satellite radios are widely used in all countries because of its advantages over the regular radio. In satellite radio the receiving system has a receiver and an antenna attached to it. In the analogue radios the position of the antenna is very important, not when it is stationary but also when it is moving along with cars and other vehicles in a fixed state attached at their top. The reception of the signal is affected due to water and weather. And more over an extension is needed to attach the antenna and the receiver in the radio. That creates a complicated situation. To avoid this situation antenna are provided inside the vehicles but the case of roof of car which is metallic act as an obstacle to the reception of the signals and degrades the quality. The antennas used for satellites radios must have a good directivity and the chassis of the car should not act as a ground plate. Inventors worked on the problem of antennas and got a solution that an antenna receives a radio signal in an internal space and sends to the receiver of the radio. The receiving unit has a substance on which the antenna element is placed. On the other side of the substance is a plate which is grounded. This is provided to protect the circuit. A wire is attached to the ground plate that runs in the same way as the antenna element. This arrangement is put inside a kit and installed in the car. The effect of the metal surfaces of the car is reduced by this grounding arrangement. This is done so that the best signal quality is achieved. The cost of installation is much higher in the old cars. As the connections has to be done by a professional so one has to pay the charges.

The professional makes holes in the dash board plastic and installs the radio kit. Even the new cars which have the satellite radio kit need a receiver tuner to be purchased from a service provider. Even this needs a professional installation else a person lands himself in trouble.

Also along with buying a radio receiver one has to pay the cost of the subscription. The only problem associated with the satellite radio is its one time installation charges which are high. Once it’s done the cost of subscription is almost minimal.
