The Itunes Monopoly

Submitted by CharlesSmith

Chances are if you have an Ipod you’ve spent a considerable amount of time and money on the internet looking at all the different download options, but did you know you may have been throwing that money away?

Most people start their downloading with Itunes, which is the default place to get your Ipod related downloads from. It’s a great piece of software, and really makes the downloading and transferring of media easy enough for just about anyone to do. The only downside to it is the price. As those downloads mount up, so does your credit card bill!

Did you know that downloading free media for your Ipod or Ipod Nano etc is a very real possibility these days? Itunes may be cool, but is anything cooler than getting the same stuff for much lower prices, or even for free?

There are a few different ways to go about getting these downloads, but one way that should definitely be avoided is the torrent or P2P sites. These may seem great at first, but they are very much illegal, and can also be a great place to ruin your computer due to viruses etc.

Another option is the membership sites, which seem great at first as you don’t pay per download, but you DO pay month it and month out. This means you are paying all the time, even if you didn’t download anything that month. Not too cool huh?

The third way to get free downloads, and my personal favorite is to find one of the free download sites. There are a few of these springing up these days, and they offer excellent value. The way it works is that you pay a one off fee, usually around $25 to $35, and then you get access to their library of music, movies, TV shows etc. It’s cool because it’s a lifetime membership, so you can really get your money’s worth.

Another plus point is the speed. These sites use the money they make for the upkeep of their servers and to acquire the latest downloads etc, so you can always be sure of up to date downloads that come down at the highest possible speeds.

Hopefully this article has opened your eyes a little toward the Ipod, and has shown you that the whole world doesn’t have to revolve around Itunes. Trust me, once you start using some of these other places, you’ll never go back to expensive Itunes ever again!
