The Evolution of Communication: From Human Messenger to Web Conferencing

Submitted by conferencesoftware
Wed, 2 Jul 2008

Business communication has evolved over hundreds of years. In ancient times runners delivered important messages and letters of business were shipped to foreign ports by water travel. If you use your imagination you can see the runner swiftly moving over land and his sweat pouring out of his body. You can see him exhausted, panting when his run is finished. The message got through at a cost of human exhaustion. Think again and the view of a ship, sails unfurled, is in your mind’s eye. The mail is moving ahead and innovation is happening..

The Pony Express galloped communications to their destinations for the settlers of the American west. There riders raced from one Pony Express office to another, changing horses and charging on until they reached the last stop on their route. The horse is lathered and the rider intent on getting the mail through, perhaps hostile territory.

The methods of communication kept changing. In the 1840’s the electric telegraph was invented and messages were sent much quicker through the first invisible means of communication called the Morris code. This was the best type of communication invented thus far. A message was tapped out by the sender and the receiver as the message was being created.

Next, the telephone was invented and businesses started to talk about plans, orders and marketing communication was born. Finally, the internet with instant messaging between employers and executives became a reality. Desktop communication started and conferencing software was developed. When the web conferencing revolution began RHUB was there…involved in improving the way web conferencing was done.

RHUB is still inventing and implementing better techniques for web conferencing with their multi-function web conferencing appliance for PC and Mac users. RHUB is making history in the communications field by inventing better versions of their appliances every year and by staying ahead with the latest security methods.
