More and more people are doing research on what solar power is and how it is able to be used to not just help the environment - but also to save money. Already of the larger companies are harnessing this power to help the function of large work plants and are saving them time and money on the measure of power that they often utilize.

Several of us understand that it is manageable to put in solar panels attached to our house and to use them to power the electrical energy, water, heat, and also to keep it cool. But many of us question if there isn't more advantages to this power that we have not even begun to try. Is it possible to harness this power and to use it for much larger things like trains or also airplanes?

Bertrand Piccard thought of this thought also and utilized the knowledge he had to create a solar airplane. He had the ambition to to bring is idea to life and he was the founder of the world's first non stop flight in a balloon that journeyed around the whole world. But now he is preparing to fly for 36 hours in his new prototype that has been named the Solar Impulse.

On June 16th in Zurich, Switzerland this new plane will be unveiled for the very first time. It has a wingspread of 207 feet - which is standard on numerous commercial planes. It is likewise outfitted with 11,628 solar cells that are built in the wings. It is built as a single pilot airplane and weighs as much as an average vehicle. The propellers utilize lithium batteries.

The solar power plane is made to fly below 28,000 feet where it has the power to get the most sunlight and will not make any pressure in the cabin. The first test flight is set for sometime later in the year.
