Planning to study in Australia? The Land of Oz offers an exciting selection of schools for you to choose from. There are several world-class universities with the highest standards of education all over the country.

In fact, education is one of the best reasons to be approved for a visa for Australia. Those seeking to study in Australia can get a student visa for various levels. Here are a couple of tips to help you fulfill your dream to study in Australia:

1.) Assess the kind of education you are planning to get. It can be for higher education, vocational training, primary or secondary school, ELICOS (English Language Intensive Course for Overseas Students), Post-Graduate research or even non-award education.
2.) Secure your visa to Australia, particularly your student visa before starting any course.
3.) You need to be registered on a full-time basis to be approved for an Australian visa.
4.) Consider the right timing to get your visa to study in Australia. The school year starts in January and ends in December and has four school terms for primary, secondary schools and TAFE colleges. Universities run from February to November.
5.) Public or private? That is the question. Each state in Australia runs its own educational system. There are literally thousands of public schools in each territory. Although public schools are free, there is a voluntary school fee. Private schools, on the other hand, are competitively priced. Some have boarding facilities as well.
6.) If you're sending your kids to study in Australia, it is also important to know that most primary and pre-schools ask that your children be vaccinated before enrollment.
7.) Children have to start school when they turn six. It's the law in most states.
8.) The School Certificate is earned in year ten while the Higher School Certificate is earned in year 12. Each state has its own law for the age when education is still compulsory (usually 15 or 16).
9.) TER or the Tertiary Entrance Requirements determine eligibility to apply for a student's chosen course.
10.) Colleges of Technical and Further Education (TAFE) offer diploma courses that are shorter than a university degree.

There are several other things to know about when acquiring a visa to study in Australia. Most immigration consultants can provide you with the full requirements as well as tips for an easier processing of your visa for Australia.
