A Unique Andean Mountain Lodge

The Lazy Dog Inn is located at 3650 meters above sea level, at the base of the Cordillera Blanca Mountains, on the border of Huascaran National Park, just a 20 minute drive from Huaraz. The Inn is dedicated to social and environmental responsibility. Construction materials include seismically reinforced adobe blocks and the use of local materials. A low waste operation is in use featuring a unique dry composting toilet system and complete waste water recycling.

The Lazy Dog Inn is actively involved with local community projects and continues to train and hire local people. The Inn is a small, family run operation that provides lodging in 2 cabins or private rooms in the main lodge. Guests enjoy home-cooked meals served in the main house, hot baths or showers, a wood heated outdoor sauna, private terraces, fireplaces and many quiet areas to relax. Evenings give way to an outdoor fire pit and roasting marshmallows under the brilliant night sky! Families with children are as comfortably housed in the cabins as those who travel alone or with friends.

The Inn has their own horses for trail rides of 2-4 hours. These rides go cross country, though the fields and farm land with some trails that enter into the quebradas. Many of the horses are the Peruvian Paso Fino, known for their unique gait and gentleness.

Guests at the Inn enjoy the close-up views of the peaks and quebradas of the Cordillera Blanca. Many 6000 meter plus peaks are accessible by foot or a short ride. Additionally there are countless hiking trails, boulders to climb and view spots to enjoy. Many enjoy mountain bike riding with an experienced guide while others take on the challenge of running at altitude.

Great sunsets, early sunrises and local people make photographic and painting opportunities abundant. Whatever your choice of activity, the Lazy Dog Inn is a relaxing place for active people.

The owner, operators are a Canadian couple with close to 20 years experience living and working in South America and the Huaraz area. Their knowledge of the area, its people and hospitality will make you feel at home. Whether you want to be in the mountains all day, riding a bike or spending the day reading a book, writing, painting or taking pictures you only need to walk out your front door to do so!
