Come to Julian in San Diego For a True Country Experience

San Diego is a paradise it itself. Blessed with an ideal climate, long miles of sun kissed sandy beaches, plethora of fun-filled attractions, a rich and distinctive Spanish-Mexican heritage and quality and affordable hotels in San Diego, this city is also popular for its age old country side charm. The best time to enjoy the country side is during the Fall with crisp fall foliage and succulent apples. For all this you need to head towards the small mining town of Julian.

Location

Nestled in the picturesque Cuyamaca Mountains just one hour east of downtown
San Diego, Julian is a popular destination where one can go for a day long trip to enjoy its famous warm apple pie or plan for a romantic weekend in the tranquility of the great outdoors. Right from enjoying the changing color of fall leaves to fresh spring blooms of lilacs and daffodils, here one can enjoy warm summer breeze and a picturesque snowfall during the winter.

Julian Fall Apple Harvest, which runs from September 15 through November 15 is the most popular event here. Tourists from far away places come to this quaint little mining town to have a taste of mouth watering homemade apple pies along with enjoy the crisp Julian apples, juicy pears and homemade apple cider.

Shopping

Julian is a shopper's paradise with a plethora of antique stores, craft shops and specialty boutiques. No matter what one's interest or budget everyone is bound to come home with a special memento from their trip to Julian. Here one can spend hours browsing through shops for rare books, fine art prints, engravings, purses, belts, hats, period lamps and jewelry items.

Outdoor Recreation

For horse lovers, horse riding can keep them busy for hours. Here they can go for a truly magnificent horseback riding experience around some of the most breathtaking views from vistas surrounding Julian valley. Even the zig-zag mountain paths here provide a good setting for road biking or challenging mountain biking. This is why riders head to Julian for annual bike events such as the Tour de Julian held in November and the Julian Death held during the month of March or April. Here tourists can also enjoy camping around areas such as Lake Cuyamaca, where fishing, biking and hiking are just some of the many activities available for nature and adventure lovers.

While guests can stay any one of the hotels, inns or bed and breakfast accommodation located in the town itself. Here you can also find charming cottages and architecturally-stunning Victorian houses for staying. Otherwise you can stay at any affordable hotels in San Diego and take a hired vehicle to reach here. The town is just a short ride from downtown San Diego.
