Liverpool is the current Capital of Culture, and is often in the news thanks to the amazing events that have been put on.

Find out why you need to visit Liverpool.

1. Liverpool is hosting many events thanks to its Capital of Culture status. Music festivals, art exhibitions and theatre performances are just some of the many exciting sights and sounds happening this year. With a comprehensive transport infrastructure including 3 international airports nearby, great motorway and train links, there really is no excuse not to visit Liverpool.

2. Liverpool is home to the famous World Museum, Merseyside Maritime Museum, and the Walker Art Gallery. Tate Liverpool, at the Albert Dock is home to the largest collection of modern and contemporary art in the UK outside of London. Whilst in Liverpool surely you have to take the Ferry Across the Mersey! It’s one of the best ways to take in the fantastic views and learn more about the amazing history of the city.

3. Liverpool is of course home of The Beatles, arguably the most influential group ever. From the icon Mathew Street Cavern Club to the Beatles Story Museum at the Albert Dock, there is plenty for the Beatles fan to see and lots to find out about them. Why not take a Beatles tour and see the childhood homes of the Fab Four and other memorable places?

4. Liverpool is renowned as a stylish city. The newly opened Liverpool One offers cafés, restaurants, cinemas, hotels and apartments, as well as unrivalled shopping. In addition, the nearby famous Cavern Walks, Met Quarter, Church Street and Bold Street are excellent places for retail therapy, and who knows, you may even spot a celebrity!

5. The Albert Dock is home to the Beatles Museum, Tate Liverpool and other retail outlets. It’s also a great place to visit in the evening thanks to its many bars and restaurants.

6. Liverpool and Everton Football clubs are well known throughout the world. Why not go to the match whilst you’re here? If you’re not a football fan, why not have a day at the races at nearby Haydock, Aintree or Chester?

7. The North West of England is known as the Golf Coast, thanks to over 100 golf courses within an hour radius. Why not get organised and play one of the many famous golf courses in the region, such as Royal Liverpool, Royal Birkdale or Royal Lytham and St Annes?

8. There are many hotels to choose from in Liverpool. From the budget chains to the exclusive boutique hotels, there is a room for everyone. Why not make your Beatles tour complete by staying at the new Hard Days Night hotel near the Cavern Club?

9. The world famous Anglican and Catholic Cathedrals are situated at either end of Hope Street, and are well worth a visit, no matter what your faith.

10. Liverpool is well known for its nightlife, and with many pubs, bars and restaurants to choose from you’ll never be short of somewhere to go to eat or drink. In addition, the music scene is thriving and there are many venues to see established and up and coming bands. From open mic nights in local pubs and bars, to world tours stopping off at the new Arena, you can see live music every night of the week.

There is plenty to do in and around Liverpool, and that’s before you explore the Sefton coast, or the Wirral Peninsula. Whatever time of year you visit there’s something for everyone, and you’ll be planning your next visit to Liverpool before you leave!
