4 Family Water Sports

Submitted by jenniferquilter

It can be hard, with busy everyday lives, to keep a family together and bonded. Vacations are a great opportunity to work on building relationships and bringing everyone back together--unless everyone ends up doing their own thing. If you set off with a specific group activity in mind, like some of the family water sports listed below, you're able to work together on this activity and accomplish something together. The activities listed here vary in intensity, skill level, and cost so there should be something that will work for your circumstances.

White water rafting is a fun, thrilling activity that really requires everyone to work together. If you haven't done this before it's much safer to go with a guide who will safely help you through. This is definitely something everyone will go away remembering and talking about for years to come, which ensures it's success as a bonding activity.

If you're looking for something just as thrilling, but with a little less skill required, try towable tubes. These are towed behind a boat and can hold one rider, or up to a dozen. Getting one of the ones that holds multiple riders gives more of a chance for bonding. The ride can easily be compared to riding a roller coaster, fast, fun, thrilling! The only real skill required here is the ability to swim in case you fall off (but please make sure you can all swim before trying any water sports) and hang on tight to the inflatable.

If these aren't really your speed, consider a canoeing or kayaking trip. Everyone will have to work together, paddling their way down a river or around a lake, making it an easy way to bond, and you'll have fun figuring it all out together. This is something you can easily do on your own (unlike the white water rafting) but make sure everyone wears a life vest in case of accidents.

There's not a better way to bond with your family than on the water, any of these family water sports should bring you closer together while having a great time.
