Amsterdam Gay Pride

The Amsterdam Gay Pride is a regular yearly festival for gays. This festival was initially started in the year 1996. The Amsterdam Gay Pride has more than hundreds of thousands of visitors and happens to be one of the biggest festivals in the whole of Netherlands. Visitors from all over the globe are welcome to take part in the Pride Parade.

In the city, huge gay parties are conducted. Huge balloons of vibrant colors are inflated and taken across streets of the cities. Masks and other props are a main part of this Gay Pride Parade. DJs and dancers are found all over the streets. The dancers dance all the way with high spirits and utilize all their energy to make the parade a grand success each and every year. The combined effort of the people of Amsterdam is the only key to the success of the Amsterdam Pride Parade.

The Pride Parade Party is packed with fun filled entertainment from the beginning and right till the end. Each day is perfectly planned and the plan is executed without even a single barrier in the middle. The Pride Parade for 2009 starts on 31st of July and goes on till the 2nd of August.

The Amsterdam Pride usually takes place on the first weekend of August. The Canal Parade is the peak of the festival. It takes place on the first Saturday of August. A series of more than fifty large boats set sail on from the Westerdok starting in the afternoon of the Saturday and then over the Prinsengracht, through the Amstel River, over to Zwanenburgwal and Oudeschans and finally end at Oosterdok. The Gay Pride is watched by more than 350,000 people from all around the world.

There are special parties in the city during the festive time especially for the women to enjoy their rights of freedom. These parties are usually women only parties and have a full house party throughout the festival.

On the final day is a huge party which starts around the afternoon and goes with out a stop till 2 o clock in the night. This party is the perfect chance for all gays to enjoy. If you had missed this party, not to worry, there is an after party on the following day.

This is one of the most awaited festivals in the whole of Netherlands. This festival shows that all the people in the world are equal and anyone can exercise their right without any racial or rational differences. The Amsterdam Gay Pride is unmatched with all pride parades of other cities in all its aspects such as spice, entertainment and spirit.
