Here are the main facts for anyone considering a trip to Egypt. The main attractions are of the course the world famous pyramids, the River Nile, the Sphinx Luxor and the Sinai Peninsula.

Almost all of Egypt is desert, with only a small percentage, around five per cent to be free of sand with the country covering over a million square kilometres of land. Egypt is dripped in fantastic historical sites including the pyramids and temples as well as the local markets which have been trading and bartering goods for centuries.

There are more modern attractions such as scuba diving, fishing, bird expeditions, golfing and for the more adventurous desert treks although personally I wouldn't be so keen with high temperatures that you will experience both day and night.

The climate of Egypt is dry and hot for almost all of the year. In the summer temperatures can breach forty degrees Celsius so please think about this before you decide to travel their, especially if you aren't used to hot temperatures, like us British. For those that prefer more comfortable temperatures you can visit in the winter months were the average is a very nice twenty plus degrees.

If you would prefer to spend most of your time learning about the history of Egypt then you will need to visit the city of Luxor. This historic city features around a third of all the monuments from the ancient world, it is an amazing place, truly fantastic and should be explored.

One of the most famous sites is the tomb of King Tutankhamun which can be found in the Valley of Kings. To get there you need to take a ferry trip across the river Nile which in itself would be an amazing experience.

You will certainly feel like you have travelled back in time here with the whole city featuring ancient artefacts and monuments. There is the Temple of Larnak to be found in the north and old busy markets where you can pick up your own piece of history. You can even take a ride in a horse drawn caleche and visit the Luxor temple.
